Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Nurse Externship in Talihina, Oklahoma

This is a temporary, full-time position for Nursing students that lasts from 6/3 - 8/2 | Salary will be $15 per hour

Job Summary: The Choctaw Nation Nursing Extern Program is a Summer clinical learning experience for current RN students. The Extern/Nursing Assistant works 12-hour rotating shifts as assigned by the Unit Manager. Weekend shifts are assigned on a rotating basis.

Primary Tasks:

  1. Seeks learning opportunities.

  2. Performs nursing skills per nursing school competency sheet under direct supervision of the RN.

  3. Assists with maintaining safe, comfortable environment for patient, family and staff (i.e. keep hallways clear of clutter, chairs, scales, etc.)

  4. Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to “Patient Bill of Rights” policies.

  5. Contributing to organizational effectiveness by demonstrating punctuality when reporting for duty, adhering to hospital policy concerning rest and lunch breaks, and completing assigned duties in an effective, efficient and timely manner.

  6. Must demonstrate stewardship behavior by conserving hospital resources (i.e. supplies).

  7. Must maintain a neat, clean professional appearance.

  8. Other duties as assigned within scope and competency of the associate.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • Current CPR certification required

  • Current CNA certification with the State of Oklahoma preferred

  • Nursing School Clinical Experience

  • Experience in medical terminology preferred
