Job Summary:

The Corporate Banking Credit Administration, Assistant Vice President is responsible for the operations activities relating to Syndicated and Commercial Loan Products and markets for the Japanese Corporate Banking department. The role usually has full ownership for one or more processes, reports, procedures or products, and may also be considered analytical or procedural experts representing a unit or team on cross-function process or project deliverables. Roles covered in this function include: Loan Administration (Loan Agency, Loan Documentation / Processing), Control, Customer Service and Reporting. Day-to-day focus is on the resolution of complex problems or transactions, where expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines or processes.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations within the team which executes deal closings and performs other credit administrative tasks on behalf of the Japanese Corporate Banking Department.

  • Perform the due diligence, verification, execution, and closing of complex loan transactions, including, but not limited to; new deals, refinancing, amendments, acquisition financings, and re-pricings.

  • Perform a second-level review of legal loan documentation against required legal, credit, and regulatory approvals, as per bank policy, as well as perform review and verification of facility booking in the MUFG system of record.

  • Provide training and periodic study sessions for knowledge transfer within the Middle Office.

  • Handle escalations from the Middle Office analysts, the Front Office and the Back Office pertaining to the closing process and ongoing queries.

  • Contribute continuous improvement to the processes within the Middle Office by identifying opportunities and leading local initiatives.

  • Ensures adherence to all bank policies and procedures relative to Regulatory Compliance including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, Privacy Act, Regulations Q& X, Customer identification Program, Know Your Customer, Suspicious Activity Reports.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial banking environment.

  • 3-5 years of experience in managing bank operations environment.

  • Knowledge of a broad range of financial products: ability to make good judgments and have tact for solving problems; ability to effectively deal with internal clients and relationship managers.

  • Must possess strong managerial and credit skills. Have the ability to assess risk and exercise judgment concerning complex problems relating to loans and letters of credit.

  • In-depth knowledge of Banking Regulations and Standard Practices.

  • Expertise in reviewing Loan Agreements and strong leadership skills in negotiating with business units and back office.

  • A team player coupled with the ability to motivate and support staff in order to achieve high performance.

  • Good working knowledge of various Lending systems. In-depth knowledge of commodity finance, Syndications, Trade Finance, and Loan Workout related facilities as well as Risk transactions.

  • Expertise in continuously reviewing workflow and recommended organizational changes.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Syndicated and Commercial Loan products and markets. Understands legal documentation supporting these products.

  • Understands market conventions for managing these products.

  • In-depth knowledge of market initiatives to streamline and automate the settlement and servicing of Loans.

  • Expert knowledge of E2E operations related to Syndicated and Commercial Loan markets.

  • Strong interest in process optimization and efficiency improvement.

  • Experience in an international business environment is a plus.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $80K - $100K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
