Coastal Health and Wellness is seeking a Dental Access Specialist!
The right candidate will be responsible for but not limited to financial screening patient to determine discount eligibility for CHW and Ryan White programs, checking in patients, checking out patients, providing Patient Care Plans, scheduling follow up appointments for dental, answering phone calls, sending communications electronically to dental care team members. This position travels between Texas City and Galveston clinic locations if/when necessary.

Required:
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent
1+ years of experience performing clerical type duties (preferably in an electronic health system)
Must have working knowledge of general office procedures, office copiers, fax machines, computers, and multi-line telephone systems and be able to multitask
Knowledge of financial screening documents
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Ability for spur of the moment transportation without relying on organization vehicles
Must possess or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
Department of Motor Vehicle check may be required, if applicable
Customer Service Oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent Computer Skills MS Office
Must be willing and able to work evening and weekend hours if necessary
Must be in compliance with GCHD Immunizations policy
Must be in compliance with ICS training requirements
Must pass criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening
An equivalent combination of education and work experience which appropriately demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-described essential functions will be considered when hiring for this role.
Traditional Duties:
Performs financial screening for patients to determine eligibility for discount services in accordance with Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant requirements and Ryan White programs. Identify other programs patients may be eligible for (Title V, Medicaid, etc.)
Verify insurance coverage via electronic systems or phone call; accurately load insurance information into patient chart
Verify insurance, CHW/Ryan White/Title V eligibility is active prior to scheduling appointment
Assisting patients checking out by scheduling follow up appointments for dental as indicated by Providers
Deliver Dental Instruction sheets to designated Operatory locations
Edit Dental Treatment Plan fees as instructed by providers in accordance with Governing Board approved fees
Accurately calculate cost for Dental Contract Service Agreement (DCSA) in accordance with current DCSA guidelines and Governing Board approved fees as indicated on Treatment Plan and generate DCSA when instructed
Accurately collect and post payments via Phreesia for patients in person or over the phone making payments towards DCSA
Responsible for ensuring Ryan White (RW) patient registration and attestation is current in accordance with RW requirements and communicate lab needs with HIM staff prior to scheduling an appointment
Complete various administrative assignments and clinic reports, which includes, but is not limited to, printing daily sched les for identified staff; accurately completing and e-mailing daily Incomplete Provider Encounter Report, maintaining spreadsheet for Dental Contract Service Agreements, documenting left without being seen, etc.
Maintain the Dental Recall Plans and utilize various methods to contact and schedule patients from the Dental Recall Plans
Provide Patient Care Plan and/or Appointment Reminder Letter after every dental appointment
Sending appropriate communication to dental care team via EMR task program
Monitor patient communication through various contact methods - phone, email, Patient Portal and respond in a timely manner
Document completion of tasks
Update relevant patient information to maintain an accurate patient record
Responsible for the security and confidentially of patient information
Scan appropriate documents accurately to patient chart under the correct provider and in the accurate folder
Monitoring and managing flow of the waiting room
Notify appropriate parties of maintenance requests according to Health District procedures
Maintain copies of Coastal Health and Wellness approved forms and literature for dental staff to use in patient care
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
