Position Summary:

Provides professional level accounting skills and assistance in cash management, financial reporting, and special projects to ensure the sound management of a department.

This dynamic role reports directly to the Assistant Director of Payroll Reporting, which requires attention to detail and evolves into the subject matter expert in TRS, USAS, and other state programs.

  • Department: Payroll

  • Location: University Center Tower, 7000 Fannin

  • Shift: Monday-Friday; days; on-site

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Analyze and prepare complex financial statement and reports such as: USAS, TRS & ORP contributions

  2. Prepares and submits monthly TRS reports and reconciles TRS contributions and payments, identifying discrepancies for further analysis.

  3. Prepares and submits USAS and ORP reports, identifying errors and completing adjustments to ensure payroll data is accurate.

  4. Performs on a regular basis: prepares and certifies TRS documents, reconciles balance sheet accounts, prepares vouchers, prepares state reports, and assists with audits.

  5. Prepares quarterly TWC reports.

  6. Deposits department cash receipts, works closely with Benefits team for benefits billing, analyzing, reconciling and creating adjustments.

  7. Assists in the preparation of the Annual Financial Report at the end of the fiscal year.

  8. Partners with IT teams for analysis and resolution of processing issues.

  9. Collaborates with internal and external customers to resolve issues.

10.May provide work direction and guidance to personnel within the department. May lead projectsandactivities.

11.Position will cross train with team members.

12.Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

None.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or its equivalent with at least twenty-four (24) hours of college level accounting credit.

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years of experience in accounting.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
