Responsibilities

Performs all tasks related to trans-telephonic monitoring of pacemaker patients including scheduling appointments, recording and reporting results. Applies and schedules Holter and event recorders; provides patient education. The

position performs data entry of new, transferring and existing device patients. Additionally, trains (with a preceptor) on the development of pacemaker and ICD interrogation/evaluations skills, including reprogramming, troubleshooting and patient education, to progress towards independence and Arrhythmia Tech II clinician level.

  1. Monitors and schedules pacemakers and ICD's evaluations, including the use of trans-telephonic and remote monitoring.

  2. Schedules, performs, and scans EKG’s, event and Holter monitors, patient hook-ups and report generation. Completes the next day’s schedule with reprogramming forms and confirms those appointments in the scheduling

system.

  1. Enters new patients and device information into the Paceart system. Enters data into McKesson for all appropriate arrhythmia reporting. On-going management of the Paceart Database.

  2. Tracks pacemaker implants, ICD implants, device evaluations, Holter and event monitors, complications and incidents. Tracks information on patient charts as needed. Documents in progress notes for patient communication.

  3. Communicate with physicians, managers, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical conditions, and informs provider of significant patient complaints and/or arrhythmia.

  4. Assures correct charges and diagnosis are marked appropriately on billing sheets. Submits to billing department daily.

  5. Performs other duties as may be assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Graduate from one of the following healthcare educational programs: IBHRE, Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, Emergency Medical Technician, or Bachelor or Associate degree in biology, human physiology, healthcare or equivalent required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required within 60 days of hire.

  • Must maintain current certifications regarding specific medical fields.

  • Must be in Level 1 for two years before applying/advancing to Level 2 or at the discretion of the manager.

  • 1-2 years cardiovascular/arrhythmia experience preferred.

  • Four (4) years of arrhythmia-specific experience and/or undergraduate work may be substituted for the aforementioned medical education.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

  • Knowledge of general clinic practices and procedures.

  • Knowledge of medical skills and terminology as learned in accredited Medical Assistant program.

  • Knowledge of patient safety procedures, common safety hazards and precautions

  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information

  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction in English.

  • Must possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.

  • Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients.

  • Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.

  • Good computer skills using a medical application.

  • Provides technical support for providers, patients, staff, and device companies.

  • Acts as a liaison between patient and professional staff.

  • Contributes to overall delivery of patient care and day to day clinic flow by demonstrating team player qualities, completing additional duties and tasks as directed. Participates as a team member and a role model to colleagues and other team members.

Pay Range

$16.30 - $22.42 /hour
