What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for oversight, governance and administration of Amgen’s US commercial data and analytics platform. This leader will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the platform to enable analytics across the Commercial Data and Analytics function as well as other cross functional teams. This role will report to the Director Data Management and will work with a cross functional data governance team that handles execution of the operational health and financial aspects of the data platform.
Flexible Commuter role to Thousand Oaks office. You will work on-site 2-3 days a week.
Lead the global commercial data lake(s) & marketing data hub at Amgen as a business owner
Lead ground-breaking projects that shape the future of the Data platform as well as integrations of platforms in mergers, acquisitions, etc.
Craft multi-year roadmaps for the Data Platform
Evaluate new technologies that enable new capabilities for partners and secure leadership sponsorship to implement new capabilities
Handle the budget for the platform – including OSE, Run Ops, Infrastructure costs.
Lead the yearly and quarterly planning discussions to prioritize features
Guide Operations team including vendors in the day-to-day operations of the platform
Institute processes to efficiently govern the platform and develop evaluation methods that help understand the health of the platform
Lead Vendor selection exercises with GSS and DTI to manage the Platforms Run Ops
Seek opportunities to improve the platform for collaborators
and increase adoption by optimizing processes, removing redundant processes
Implement processes to maintain a YOY Flat line for Infrastructure costs – Lead efforts to optimize processes, purge redundant data, implement automations to streamline processes
Foster strong relationships with stakeholders and cross functional leads to ensure alignment in execution
Serve as SME for Commercial data sets to other Amgen Functions
Lead data collection efforts in support of Legal requests
Lead and participate in strategizing the creation of best-in-class data and analytics platforms
Develop and oversee ongoing Data Governance & Administration for both Operational and Analytical needs
Guide DevOps teams to streamline processes and implement best practices adhering to the Agile methodology to achieve Operational excellence
Implement processes to track costs of running the platform, monitor costs and drive innovations to reduce costs and optimize processing
Periodically review all processes, identify duplications and inefficiencies and lead organizational change across collaborators base to remediate the inefficiencies
Lead collaborative teams including DTI partners, external vendors and service providers to ensure reliability, stability in the service and enhance user – experience and adoption
Implement automations to increase stability & accuracy, optimize costs and efforts and reduce turn-around time in meeting partner expectations
Implement processes to ensure thorough documentation for all data products
Identify business needs and propose potential analytics approaches for solutions
Creating prototypes and demonstrations to better access and use data assets
Present analysis ideas, progress and results to leadership and business partners
Ensuring systems meet business requirements and industry standard processes
Assuring compliance with regulatory, security, and privacy requirements as it relates to data assets
Ad-hoc projects and analysis would be a standing 10-20% of the role
Responsible for the management of both identified as well as de-identified patient data sets

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of analytics experience OR commercial operations experience across multiple functions
OR
Master’s degree and 6 years of analytics experience OR commercial operations experience across multiple functions
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of analytics experience OR commercial operations experience across multiple functions
OR
Associate’s degree and 10 years of analytics experience OR commercial operations experience across multiple functions
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of analytics experience OR commercial operations experience across multiple functions
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in managing teams and driving implementation of solutions with broad audience.
Experience in building long term strategy and roadmap for large teams and gaining leadership support for teams’ vision
Experience in instituting processes in alignment with strategy and tracking completion
Extensive experience over multiple years and projects in organizational change in ground-breaking projects
Proactive engagement with Executives to gain support for sponsorship of new capabilities
Strong understanding of Commercial data sets - Syndicated datasets, SP datasets, Formulary and Claims datasets
Experience with handling large size data platforms (data warehouses) catering to multiple collaborator functions.
Experience with multiple collaborators of data - in understanding their varying data requirements & analytics needs and managing data platforms that support all
Preferably past experience with partners in Analytics, Forecasting, Reporting, IC, Field and Digital Targeting, Value and Access, Medical
Experience in Agile methodologies in completion of large scale projects and small improvements and in managing teams driving projects in Agile framework
Experience in managing large projects and enhancements for Commercial Data Platforms
Extensive experience in managing Run Ops including large teams with a mix of on-site and off-site staff
Extensive experience managing multiple vendors and driving synergies in a complex environment
Strong understanding of Digital marketing data and experience in managing an in-house digital marketing data ecosystem
Passion for innovations in technology and process to drive faster insights and optimize resources
Track record in leading transformative projects across functions
Strong leadership skills in mentoring team members, encouraging and motivating them to be their best and being a string advocate for their career development goals
Extensive experience in an analytics/reporting role with demonstrated experience using analytics tools and software i.e.. Tableau, etc.
Preferably strong understanding of pharmaceutical and/or Field Force data and systems
Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen and translate complex ideas into a simple design and messaging for an executive audience
Identify & define business problems, and craft effective solution and/or process optimization
Demonstrated ability to distill complex data into relevant, useful insights for non-technical stakeholders
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain credibility with all levels of management and promote and cultivate quality throughout the organization
Experience with working in highly matrixed organizations
Track record in identifying, retaining, and developing top talent required to build and sustain a diverse, hard-working team

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
