Job Title: Design EngineerJob Description

This position will be responsible for mechanical design. They will be designing for about 75% of the time. They will take the initial concept of the machine design and then design the machines from there. They'll be working directly with the customers throughout this phase and will be required to identify what components are needed for purchase, design structure, brackets, mounts etc. and will need to identify things like cylinder size, valving, and amount of force needed. All of the projects that come in go through the same process: The owners handle all the sales and bids. Once a project is won and PO is cut, they get the engineers and production to meet and discuss the tasks and deadlines. They then delegate duties and prioritize projects from there. All of the projects vary in products or reconfiguration/design. They may look to design and build a custom automated assembly machine to sell to the customer or they could take a customer's machine and redesign it to upgrade it for better output. The other 25% will be involved on the floor helping build and assemble every machine or work cell they make. This will be very important for someone to learn and grow in their industry. Projects: They will be supporting the design and development for automated systems for the RV industry primarily, but also for the steel and medical industry. Biggest customers are RV due to big push to automate their systems.

Hard Skills

• Engineering Degree (or 3+ years in custom machine design)

• Proficient in Solidworks

• Experience designing machines or mechanisms (motion parts)

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 9 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Three Rivers, Michigan.

Work Environment

They have grown to 25 people and 6 engineers. They are a highly experienced team which focuses on providing manufacturing automation solutions for productivity, cycle time, labor optimization, and flexible labor issues. They manufacture custom automated equipment and install and service the equipment. They do a lot of business with other local customers. They are very laid back but get it done environment. They have a great team that works cross-functionally in order to get machines/equipment out on time to customers. Dress code is casual - The owners wear jeans and a hoodie unless they have a customer visit. Their work week is based on 45 hours.
