Oracle Sales Representative - MySQL Cloud in TOKYO, Japan

Job Description

Sells a subset of product or services directly or via partners to small-and-medium sized accounts. The role is a combination of a Field Sales Rep and Inside Sales Rep.

Works to achieve maximum sales profitability, growth, and account penetration within an assigned territory. Territory may be combination of geographic, product, industry and other customer / market dimensions. Sells to the territory directly or via partners. The territory that this rep covers does not have an Inside Sales Rep or Field Rep. Utilizes inbound and/or outbound techniques to identify, qualify and close new opportunities. Manages accounts throughout the entire sales process, and collaborates with team members in business development, consulting and support to uncover all customer needs. Responsible for understanding Oracle's product offerings and competitive issues to develop solution proposals encompassing all aspects of the application. Travels to customer sites to identify / develop sales opportunities. Participates in the development, presentation, and sales of a value proposition. Onsite customer presentation with C-levels to negotiate and close strategic and complex deals. Liaises with customer contacts for the purpose of managing the customer relationship, identifying new opportunities and maximizing sales.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have a project lead role. Highly developed selling, customer relations, and negotiation skills. Successful sales track record. Oracle knowledge and/or knowledge of Oracle's competitors. interaction with C level players. Team player. Ability to penetrate accounts and meet with stakeholders within accounts. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Presentation skills. Travels to customer as needed. 5+ years relevant sales experience. BS/BA degree or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Japan Oracle's MySQL Global Business Unit is seeking sales positions for MySQL cloud products to promote the expansion of MySQL Database Service and HeatWave sales. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) MySQL Database Service is the only MySQL-based cloud database in the world developed by the MySQL DevOps team, responsible for the "world's most popular open-source database."

This role requires individuals with experience in selling cloud services. We are looking for individuals who can understand the fundamentals of cloud services and explain them to customers, potential customers, and internal stakeholders. It's also essential to communicate the value of second-generation Oracle Cloud products, product strategy, and the advantages of OCI over competitors to customers. You should have a passion for MySQL and cloud services and be able to address customers' business challenges.

The position is expected to be based in Tokyo or the greater Tokyo area. We welcome applications from candidates with at least 3 to 4 years of experience selling cloud services to businesses of all sizes.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Devoting more than half of the week to prospecting for new business. Using Oracle Sales Cloud to forecast, manage, and contract at least 50 to 60 deals annually (approximately 10% from existing customers).

  • Collaborating with key internal stakeholders in the assigned territory, including managers from various departments, pre-sales, and major partner companies.

  • Providing accurate information about MySQL HeatWave Database Service to decision-makers in customer system development and cloud adoption. Collaborating with internal and external teams as a team member for large projects, including providing support to other teams.

  • Mastering and effectively using Oracle's sales tools, including Territory Intelligence, Market Intelligence, Eloqua, Datafox/ZoomInfo, Sales Cloud, and LinkedIn, in the assigned territory.

  • Documenting target customers, existing customers, and marketing plans in the assigned area. Developing, implementing, and adjusting plans at 30, 60, and 90-day intervals.

  • Conducting quarterly reports for management review. Developing sales plans based on the Infomentis method for assigned customers.

  • Mastering meeting techniques to elucidate customer requirements.

  • Summarizing the product value of Oracle Cloud and MySQL HeatWave Database Service into a 3-minute elevator pitch.

Required skills and experience:

  • Managing complex sales cycles and consistently achieving sales results. Knowledge and experience in direct sales of software and IT (3 years or more).

  • Excellent communication skills with customers and potential customers and the ability to close deals.

  • The ability to act independently, be proactive, and carry out job responsibilities within the organization.
