Currently, we have an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence Engineer specializing in Finance Automation and Analytics to become a key member of the Retail Finance team.

As the Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the vision for reporting development and uncovering critical financial insights that contribute to the growth of Amazon's Retail business in Japan. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about extracting data from large-scale databases, automating reports using cutting-edge data tools, and influencing the financial outcomes of the business.

Key job responsibilities

• Collaborate with finance partners across multiple businesses and projects to define the necessary analysis for each area, translating complex problems into clear analysis and reporting requirements.

• Proactively identify business-critical problems, providing insights and actionable recommendations.

• Develop, automate, and maintain comprehensive reports to monitor business/project performance on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, facilitating the identification of risks and opportunities.

• Construct metrics tables for business review documents.

• Address internal customer data requests promptly and effectively.

• Work collaboratively with BI teams in Japan, EU, and the US to align on metrics definitions and centralization projects.

• Conduct data audits and collaborate with data owners to ensure data fidelity.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional or military experience

• 5+ years of SQL experience

• Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

• Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results

• Experience with AWS technologies

• Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

• Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

• Ability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Fluency in English (verbal and written).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

• Reporting and visualization using Tableau/Quicksight, Python/power bi and other statistical modeling.

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Statistics, Economics or other technical/quantitative fields.

• Ability to build and manage models for business forecasting, variance analysis, and problem solving is desirable.
