Job Description

As a Storage Premier Technical Support Engineer, you will be providing support to enterprise customers, using Lenovo ThinkSystem DE, DM, DG, and DS storage products under Lenovo’s portfolio, in isolating, diagnosing, reproducing, and fixing technical issues in a timely manner. To be successful in this role, you must be a motivated self-starter and self-learner, possess strong customer service and technical problem-solving skills; and be someone who embraces challenges.

Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in storage support (this is a L2.5 role)

• Fluent English skills (Japanese skills are not required but a nice to have)

• Storage Experience with Block, File, Object Storage and Page (NVMe)

• Experience with DAS (Direct Attached Storage), Storage Area Network (SAN), and Network Access Storage (NAS) systems

• Experience with Storage ONTAP and ONCOMMAND OS functions

• Setting up and Managing Volumes, LUNs, groups

• Tiering, Thin Provisioning, Deduplication, Replication, Snapshots, Snap Mirroring, Compression, use of Storage Encryption.

• High availability pairs and failover

• Multi Storage Node clustering

• Experience with RAID and DDP groups

• Topology Management (experience installing, using, and debugging)

• Full DD/FW, OS stack from the Severs, Switches, Storage including Multipath and failover driver and configurations.

• Must have experience with DE/DM storage systems such as Data ONTAP, Clustered Data ONTAP / ONCOMMAND Storage Manager

• Fiber Channel

• iSCSI

• Ethernet

• NVMe over FC, over Fabric, SAS-SCSI (RAID /SAS HBA), RDMA

• VLAN and WWN management

• Linux (RHEL, SuSE)

• VMware, vSAN (VASA, VVols)

• Windows Server OS

• CIFS, iSCSI, and NFS use and debugging

• Set up and install multipath drivers

• Experience with Kubernetes is a plus but not required

• Storage OS experience

• SANtricity, SVC, Rest API, CLI use is a plus

• Experience in writing documentation, and procedures

• The use of Python and other scripting and automation tools is a plus

• Working with End customers, Partners, Field Engineers, and Service support personnel

• Proven experience in Debugging Storage issues and in tuning for performance.

• Good communication skills in presenting issues and the proposed solutions.

• Demonstrable experience in any three of the following infrastructure technologies:

• Enterprise Storage, including Software-defined Storage (ThinkSystem DE/DM Systems)

• Virtualization (ESXi, vCloud Director, vRealize, vSAN)

• Hybrid Cloud Technologies like (AWS and Azure) is a Plus

• All-Flash Storage

• Software-defined and Object Storage

• Data Protection technologies

• Good interpersonal communication and customer service skills are needed to work successfully with customers in high-stress and or ambiguous situations.

• Overall Work experience in storage technical domain.

• Experience in Storage technologies and integrations

• Willingness to do overtime when necessary and work in shifts for some weekends (they will be reimbursed financially or with a replacement holiday. Further details will be explained later.)

• Support Asia Pacific (mainly Japan & Australia currently) and potentially other regions if there is a need (We follow the SUN model and have 3 geo teams, each covering 8 hours)

• Storage certifications (NCTA, NCDA, NCIE) Preferred
