ProMedica Health System Education Specialist - Medical Education - Full Time - Variable in Toledo, Ohio

ProMedica Continuing Education Specialists are responsible to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders to design, develop, and deploy accredited educational content. The specialist serves as a leader in matters that relate to the specific requirements and processes associated with the accreditation of educational content and its delivery. The specialist works routinely with a variety of key stakeholders including other health-care educational colleagues, subject matter experts/leaders and others to evaluate educational needs and opportunities. The specialist designs and implements timely and effective educational offerings that successfully address prioritized gaps and educational needs including those related to patient care, safety, and performance improvement.

ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Serve as CME programming and accreditation subject matter leader and expert, assuring that all aspects of formally proposed and provided CME meets ACCME accreditation standards. 2. Actively increase level of personal expertise, knowledge and ability regarding ACCME standards and requirements, CME programming best practices and related organizational policies and procedures. Apply this growing knowledge and ability routinely in fulfilling responsibilities. 3. Engage PHS clinical, patient safety, quality performance, and other key stakeholders to identify professional performance gaps and prioritize educational needs and opportunities. 4. Plan and implement educational strategies/content in conjunction with key stakeholders to effectively address prioritized gaps and educational needs. 5. With input from key stakeholders, determine targeted audiences, educational content and specific goals and objectives, desired outcomes, and specific assessment measures. 6. Assure efforts from early planning and design through content delivery are consistent with prioritized desired outcomes for each educational activity with emphasis on patient safety and care improvement. 7. Prepare and submit for approval in timely fashion, high-quality CME program applications and related documents including marketing materials as approved by PHS and in compliance with ACCME standards. 8. In conjunction with Multi-Media Learning and other educational technology colleagues, implement activities incorporating learning formats that integrate current educational technology and learning solutions to deliver high-quality education including: a. Appropriately incorporate use of educational/learning technology, learning management system, simulation/immersive technology, virtual and on-demand enduring material learning technology, etc. 9. Leverage available infrastructure and resources to achieve appropriate incorporate use of CME management/operational system, office-based software, and other digital resources, etc. 10. Design and implement processes and tool(s) to systematically review educational activity effectiveness using the best level of evidence to assess achievement of intended performance/outcome measures. 11. Assure that operational and financial components of CME programming are compliant with ACCME, PHS and other pertinent standards/requirements a. Manage components including programming budgets, attendance records, honoraria, grants, travel expenses, tuition, registration fees, invoices, reimbursement/payment requests, expense reports. b. Coordinate detailed components of activities including planning committee/stakeholder communication, speaker/faculty engagement and arrangements, marketing, facility/dietary/educational technology, participant registration and materials, etc. c. As applicable, manage day-of-event activities including participant engagement, schedule, speaker/faculty activities, facility/environment, etc. 12. Assures formal required CME activity documentation for assigned activities is complete, accurate and completed within standard departmental timelines. 13. Other duties as assigned Education: Some college with significant relevant work experience; Basic medical terminology skill. Skills: Proven collaborator, initiative-taker, dependable, highly motivated, independently functional, detail focused with strong desire to learn and grow professionally. Has effective verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to effectively engage, communicate, lead, and provide expertise in multidisciplinary teams that include highly educated and experienced clinical subject matter leaders/experts. Skilled with current digital technology including contemporary office-based hardware and software with strong desire to implement technology advances into routine workflows and activities. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field Skills: Knowledge and experience in instructional methodology and technology formats. Facile with digital learning and educational content design and implementation. Experience with use of current educational formats including simulation and/or immersive technology. Years of Experience: Related health care setting work experience. Experience in healthcare profession education/staff development activity planning and delivery.
