ProMedica Health System Shared Leadership and Professional Practice Coordinator - Patient Care Staff Development - Full-Time - Days in Toledo, Ohio

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Directly reports to Chief Nursing Officer Provider & Clinical Services.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Shared Leadership & Professional Practice Coordinator oversees all aspects of Magnet designation and re-designation, including Magnet® document writing and submission, the appraisal process, and interim reporting. The coordinator consults with organization leaders and direct care nurses on system-wide nursing/clinical practice, nursing/clinical professional development, nurse satisfaction, nursing/clinical care quality, and patient safety initiatives. As the organization’s Site Coordinator and Survey Coordinator for the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), the coordinator oversees all aspects of nursing sensitive indicator data collection, entry, analysis, and dissemination, and in consultation with nursing staff and nursing leaders, uses data to develop and implement strategies that promote the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of professional nursing practice. Collaborates with teams performing nursing and/or healthcare research activities.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Primary Duties:

• Collaborates with clinical and administrative leadership to provide leadership, direction, and coordination of the integration of Magnet Standards into the nursing and hospital infrastructure. Collaboratively creating systems, processes, shared decision making, and clinical practices that improve patient care delivery.

• Consults with organizational leaders and direct care nurses/clinical staff on system-wide nursing/clinical practice, nursing/clinical professional development, nurse satisfaction, nursing/clinical quality care, and patient safety initiatives.

• Provides operational oversight of the Shared Leadership Program and councils. Facilitates development of shared leadership and decision making, research strategies, makes recommendations, facilitates education and training and mentors nurses/clinical staff for Shared Leadership Program.

• Oversees the collection, entry, dissemination, and critical analysis of nursing sensitive and satisfaction data and develops and implements strategies to improve and promote the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of professional nursing/clinical practice for the organization.

• Leads the implementation, improvement, and evaluation of the organization’s nursing/clinical professional practice model and nursing/clinical care delivery models across the organization.

• Serves as a culture and change strategist to advance the practice of professional nursing and achievement of the ProMedica Key Performance Indicators.

• Directs all activities associated with pursuing, achieving, and maintaining Magnet® Designation and Re-designation status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

• Participates in the clinical advancement program, preceptor, and mentor development, and recruitment and retention strategies.

• Coordinates and collaborates system-wide clinical and nursing research to foster and enhance evidence-based practice. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Healthcare

Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Must have excellent written and oral

communication skills, especially with senior leadership.

Years of Experience: 5 years progressive healthcare leadership experience

License: Active healthcare licensure (RN, RRT, etc.)

Certification: National Certification in Administration, Leadership, Clinical Specialty, or Staff Development.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer.
