Technical Representative - Canada
Location: Ideal candidate resides in or near the Toronto area, or willing to relocate.
The Altra Technical Representative will lead and execute seasonal go to market and service strategies in all distribution channels within their assigned territory. This role will foster growth, excitement, and awareness within the community by conducting education, promotion, and merchandising tasks for Altra, VF, and its products. The Technical Representative will also be responsible for forming strong business relationships with store owners, retail staff, and community partners to drive sell-through on Altra products and increase market share. This role requires frequent travel to assigned accounts and designated consumer events such as expos and local races.
How You Will Make a Difference
What you will do:
Support retailers through in-person visits, demos, working the sales floor and partnering for local expos
Conduct clear and persuasive product presentations to educate and motivate retail staff and customers
Engage with community / retail partners to create excitement and brand awareness around Altra
Implement merchandising or promotional activations with product and POP
Represent Altra at local (and select national) events, races and expos
Complete detailed and accurate field activity reports via Repsly
Maintain organization of office and appearance of equipment
Uphold fiscal responsibility managing travel, expenses, promotional material and seeds
How you will do it:
Ensure in-field activities align with seasonal go-to-market strategies and sales goals established by the leadership team
Strategize with Sales Reps to create a service plan to support brand growth in assigned territory
Collaborate with other members of the Field Service Team, as well as the Technical Representative Manager to create and implement innovative education and activation programs
Be the “eyes and ears” of the company: collect and relay feedback on Altra products, competitor brands, and industry trends being seen while visiting accounts and attending events
Bring your own perspective, ideas and experiences to the team and contribute to the continued growth and success of The Field Service Team and Altra
What success looks like:
Meeting individual and team goals set by the leadership team, organization and self.
Retail staff is comfortable and confident in pulling and selling Altra product
Making a difference in the lives of retail staff, consumers and team members by unleashing human potential
Using challenges as opportunities to learn and establish best practices for the future
Overall territory growth year-over-year
Hitting monthly service metrics established by the Technical Representative Manager
Successfully meeting deadlines set for action items, projects and reports

Skills for Success
Years of Related Professional Experience:
1+ Years of specialty retail experience (Run or Outdoor Specialty preferred)
2+ Years of marketing/sales experience
Educational Position Requirements:
A formal education and subsequent undergraduate degrees are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.
- BA or BS degree in Marketing/Sales/Business/Kinesiology preferred
What we expect you already know:
Interest or familiarity with the Altra product line
Strong time management, planning and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work well independently, as well as within a team
Knowledge on how to fit and sell technical footwear
Competent in Microsoft applications including Outlook
Self-motivated and ability to show initiative and be proactive

The specifics of the complete Altra product line
How to best utilize the Field Service Team’s informational and organizational systems
Field Service Team best practices for supporting retailers and the community
