CIBC Audit Director, Enterprise and Operational Risk Management in Toronto, Ontario

What you’ll be doing

You will lead a multi-skilled audit team within the Enterprise and Operational Risk Management portfolio and oversee large or complex audits throughout all phases, including planning, execution and reporting. You will build and maintain strong professional relationships with business partners, internal colleagues and other internal and external stakeholders by providing trusted advice or assurance on governance, internal control and risk management activities. You will also be responsible for managing the team’s performance and development, monitoring of key business risks and regulatory requirements, project management and leading various continuous improvement initiatives.

How you’ll succeed

  • Project management - Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute risk-based audits, report audit results and perform continuous monitoring of management’s control environment. Champion the migration of best practices throughout CIBC and keep abreast of regulatory developments and emerging issues affecting CIBC and Internal Audit. Effectively manage multiple audits and internal projects at different stages to ensure completion within prescribed timelines including managing deficiencies by reviewing the artifacts supporting the corrective action plans and assessing whether actions remediated the risks. Communicate regularly on progress and issues. Review audit work to ensure a high level of quality and compliance with audit standards.   • Leadership - Provide trusted and proactive advice to the audit team and business management on the design and operating effectiveness of processes and controls to ensure key risks and regulatory requirements relevant to the portfolio are being adequately managed. Coach and develop team members to build and maintain a collaborative team environment and meet individual development goals.

  • Communication - Demonstrate clear, concise and influential written and verbal communication skills when issuing audit reports, discussing audit findings, resolving conflicts or interacting with CIBC executives, regulators and external auditors. Develop strong internal and external relationships through ongoing communication on progress of engagements and providing advice on risk, control and regulatory matters.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in one or more areas of Audit, Retail Credit Risk Management, Operational Risk (e.g., Fraud Risk, Information Security Risk, Third Party Risk, Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), Incident Reporting and Operational Resilience), and Enterprise Risk (e.g., Risk Management Governance, Capital Adequacy, Stress Testing, Risk Appetite Assessment, Environmental Risk and Reputation Risk),. You are able to establish subject matter expertise on relevant risks within Internal Audit to support adequate and appropriate audit coverage.

  • You have a degree/diploma in a Bachelors or equivalent degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, relevant professional designations (e.g., CPA, MBA, CIA, FRM, CRMA and CFE) or equivalent business experience.
