GENERAL FUNCTION

  • The Coating Supervisor – Night Shift (permanent) is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of the assigned department on the evening shift, ensuring effective coordination of Team Members to meet production and quality requirements while ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise staff to ensure a productive atmosphere while maintaining a quality orientation and productivity. This includes managing the workflow and resource planning for their team, ensuring an efficient operation. Responsible for performance management and talent development of the team;

  • Provide team development through training, employee development activities and mentorship. Conducts individual performance evaluations of team members with feedback/coaching discussions. Ensures compliance to training curriculum;

  • Ensure follow up and approval of timesheets;

  • Manage the overall day-to-day production process ensuring work instructions are respected at all workstations. Responsible for investigating issues that contribute to low efficiency and productivity. Investigates mechanical breakdowns, safety incidents, quality concerns, etc. Develop protocols and procedures to prevent reoccurrence of issues;

  • Order consumables and tools needed for workstations;

  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of equipment and process. Ensure machine cleaning is performed according to the process in order to assure production quality;

  • Prepare production reports, including reporting and tracking of production issues;

  • Follow-up of Production Variations Control;

  • Coordinate EHS “Environment, Health and Safety” project activities in the department. Ensure a safe working environment by monitoring employees’ behaviors and the work environment on walk-through, and ensure safety measures are being used;

  • Ensure the re-launch of orders in the LMS;

  • Other additional tasks as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College certificate in a relevant discipline (Visual Orthotics, an asset);

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a lens manufacturing operations desired and/or at least 5 years of experience leading large teams;

  • Extensive knowledge of optics (optical language, types of lenses, products, prescription reading);

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team; leadership quality, decision making, attention to detail, problem-solving and prioritizing

  • Competent technical skills and ability

  • Computer skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.);

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems;

  • Organizational skills;

  • Strong communication skills - spoken and written
