We are looking for a seasoned and versatile communications professional to play a key role in the Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) team dedicated to advancing the internal and external communications strategies and programs for TD's Public Company and Corporate Finance segment, including the Bank's quarterly earnings reporting.

If you have proven experience in:

  • Media relations, journalism or investor relations, preferably in the area of Finance, Business, or Banking

  • Public company communications, including quarterly earnings reporting communications and media relations

  • The ability to understand complex subject matter and distill it into communications that are compelling and easy to understand

  • Issues management and/or crisis communications

  • Strategic communications planning and executive communications

  • As a skilled strategic and critical thinker with strong project management skills and the ability to deliver outcomes independently and through collaboration with colleagues and partners.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Play a key role on the team responsible for communicating the Bank's Public Company communications, including quarterly earnings, and other financial announcements.

  • Work closely with Investor Relations, Legal, and Finance partners to develop media materials, key messages, briefing documents and other communications.

  • Collaborate with business partners and colleagues in all aspects of communications planning and content development for corporate announcements, including quarterly earnings, M&A, Annual Meeting of Shareholders, Investor Day, and other enterprise initiatives.

  • Play a lead role driving strategy and communications planning for senior executives in Finance, including CFO.

  • Issues management, including proactively identifying potential reputational risks, developing reactive strategies and messages, advising business partners and respond to media inquiries.

  • Research and develop compelling executive communications, capturing accurate tone and voice, including speaking remarks, presentations, briefing documents, video scripts, social media content and corporate communications.

  • Provide strategic communications advice to business leaders and help to articulate TD's story to colleagues, investors, the media and other stakeholders.

Required skills and experience for the job:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in communications, journalism or Investor Relations.

  • Financial acumen to support communications for quarterly earnings/Public Company communications.

  • Exceptional writing skills to support the CFO with a broad range of communications engagements, and the ability to inspire audiences through compelling storytelling.

  • Proven track record in media relations, with strong relationships with key business/finance media.

  • Experience with high stakes issues management, including critical thinking and good judgment.

  • Proven relationship management capabilities, including ability to counsel senior executives.

  • Strong project management abilities, able to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.

  • Investor Relations experience is an asset, including ability to synthesize financial data, articulate compelling financial narratives and build trust with stakeholders.

  • Excellent time management skills to deliver exceptional quality work under pressure.

  • An entrepreneurial and adaptable mindset.
