Position title: Manager, Sourcing Packaging & Recycling                      

Department: Supply Chain Management

Position band: Supervisory/Consultant (Global Grade 3)

Reports to: Senior Manager, New Foods & Packaging

Type of position: Full-time

The Opportunity

We have an opening in the Supply Chain Department for a Manager, Sourcing Packaging & Recycling. The person in this position will have the principal responsibilities that:

  • Positions McDonald’s for the future through industry benchmarking.  Able to recognize the changing nature of our business and identify effective strategies.

  • Develops and manages the business relationship between McDonald’s and its suppliers.

  • Manages the suppliers’ compensation programs including reward for performance models.

  • Conveys McDonald’s Global Supplier Expectations and conducts formal supplier reviews.

  • Supports the establishment of and executes the performance and measurement systems for supplier efficiencies.

  • Ensures safety and quality of all products produced meet McDonald’s high standards.

  • Ensures suppliers are aligned with our Plan to Win and Corporate goals.

  • Directs suppliers toward becoming self-managed.

Principal Accountabilities

In addition to following McDonald’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages our supplier relationships to ensure they are aligned with McDonald’s.

  • Manages the development of suppliers to ensure they are positioned to grow with us.

  • Recommends the approval and disapproval of suppliers as necessary.

  • Supports and directs suppliers to achieve Roadmap to Competitive advantage goals.

  • Liaison with key stakeholders including Menu Management, Quality Systems, Operations and Global Supply Chain partners.

  • Provide strategic direction for SCM Enabler role.

  • Makes an ongoing effort to continuously improving their and the team’s knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Respects and values the opinions of others.

  • Completes and presents performance appraisals of reports as required.

  • Demonstrates and reinforces the leadership behaviors, and people practices necessary to gain commitment from Senior SCM Management, Franchisees, and suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year accredited degree in supply chain or business field

  • Minimum of 5+ years of post-college supply chain, sourcing, category management experience, working in decentralized organizations.

  • Preferred:

  • Restaurant or retail industry experience, especially with franchise models

  • Commitment to stay in the role for 2+ years to support achievement of Brand Goals

  • Understanding of legislative pressures in the packaging industry, originating in Europe

  • Knowledge of sustainability trends and practices

  • Extensive knowledge of supply chain principles including strategic sourcing and logistics.

  • Strong research and analytical capabilities including financial analysis competencies.

  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office products:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adjust quickly to change.
