Key Responsibilities
Provide direction and leadership to the operations team.
Co-ordinate sourcing of equipment (STO or procurement)
Responsible for physical/cycle counts and overall accuracy of materials management.
Schedule and coordinate all shipments to customers.
Facility maintenance
Equipment maintenance (rental fleet)
Ensure branch compliance with health and safety policies including yard, people and equipment.
Auditing and quality assurance of shippers and receivers
Department cost management
This position directly oversees the activities of yard personnel and operations support staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations.
Communication - Speaks and writes clearly and informatively; Responds well to questions; Demonstrates group presentation skills.

Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
Customer Service - Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.
Interpersonal Skills - Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming; Maintains confidentiality; Listens to others without interrupting; Keeps emotions under control; Remains open to others’ ideas and tries new things.

Qualifications
Post secondary education combined with five years of related working experience or equivalent
Completed Health and Safety training as prescribed by safety management.
Superior interpersonal and communication skills combined with proven leadership capabilities.
Working knowledge in using personal computer and application software including SAP.
Experience with union contract (if applicable)
Good analytical skill

Most work is conducted in an office environment with concentration in using personal computers; walking in the yard is also required in conducting day-to-day activities.
