Aston Carter Snr Project Manager - Self-serve in Toronto, Ontario

Description:

Our client is a major bank seeking a Senior Project Manager to support their Personal & Business Banking pillar. The role will sit with the Digital Self Serve group and be responsible for various projects within the portfolio. The opening is to cover a backfill for a Senior Consultant that has been handling multiple concurrent small to medium sized projects.

Project: Various projects focused on Self-serve offerings

Environment: Project team operates mostly in Agile. The portfolio touches most LOBs within the enterprise and an understanding of navigating complex organizations will be key (matrix).

Business Pain: This group operates primarily in Agile but deals with multiple downstream teams that operate mostly in Waterfall. The consultant will need to be able to collect updates and requirements from these teams and translate into Agile deliverables for the project team. This will require in-depth understanding of PM fundamentals for both methodologies and the ability to communicate effectively with the business.

Day to Day:

  • Managing team members from business and technology

  • Understanding and Negotiating task schedules and work assignments, to identify priority of action

  • Collect updates/requirements from downstream teams, integrate into project plans

  • Itemizing tasks

  • Managing schedules from a 6 month to 18-month window

  • Tracking issues and escalating if needed

  • Provide updates to Senior Executives and Stakeholder groups

Soft Skills:

  • Need clear communication, with ability clearly communicate with CIO, VP and technical teams alike

  • Require a self-starter/go-getter personality who is has track record of being proactive vs. reactive.

  • Detail oriented

  • Needs to be able to quickly take a leading role on a new team which includes very sr. personnel, and executives, and show experience doing this in past engagement (and explain how they will do this in this role)

  • Ability to manage shifting priorities

  • Action oriented
