This position is responsible for managing the Variations on significant infrastructure projects, and ensuring that Variation review and acceptance is completed in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to contract and delivery methodology. The candidate will have knowledge of preparing drawings and sketches, appropriate design criteria, costing of work under different delivery methodologies, and working closely with engineers to coordinate design estimates. The candidate will have thorough knowledge of procedures and technical concepts within own area, and understands regulations and standards for own area. He/she evaluates and resolves problems by reviewing multiple sources of information and drawing conclusions, and assists less experienced team members in using technology. This position completes a variety of non-routine technical assignments independently.

· Leads the Variations process in full compliance with the Project Agreement requirements including negotiations with the contractor

· Coordinates with the broader project team to obtain required input into Variation process

· Reports to management on the Variations’ progress and budget utilization

· Coordinates the evaluation of Variations and associated costs estimates.

· Produces Variations and change control documentation suitable for management approval

· Ability to Quality Check the project’s deliverable files. Has selected a discipline focus and demonstrates ability to apply technical skills to discipline design.

· Able to assess and validate contractor’s payment requests

· Checks own work, coordinates work with related disciplines.

· Takes responsibility for their portion of the discipline’s scope, schedule and budget.

· Ability to support work for/in other offices (including Temporary Duty-TDY).

· Works in coordination with the commercial team to communicate intermediate deadlines and documentation requirements.

· Interacts with Design Managers and Discipline Leads for definition of Variation scope and resolution of design comments.

· Develops awareness of the overall project’s scope, schedule and budget.

Here’s what you’ll need :

· BS or MS graduate of an engineering discipline with 8 to 12 years of relevant experience.

· Experience with AFP project delivery model

· Experience in transit infrastructure construction an asset

· Experience in contracts management

· Commercially astute

· Effectively and positively influence Client and Stakeholder team members to ensure compliance with the variation and the payment mechanism processes as set out in the Project Agreement

· Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills
