GENERAL SUMMARY:

Munson Healthcare Digestive Health has an excellent opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their team in desirable Traverse City, Michigan. In this position, you will work in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. Clinic time is split between in person and telehealth visits. This position is supported by five physicians and five APPs. The ideal candidate is attracted to a busy practice, works well independently, and is a team player. The schedule is full time, Monday-Friday, 8am- 5pm. 1:5 first call and weekend hospital coverage are expected.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of Munson Healthcare

  • Treat patients for gastroenterology and hepatology diseases.

  • Embraces and supports the Performance Improvement philosophy of Munson Healthcare.

  • Works as a member of the clinical team to promote, support and provide management of medical care to patients.

  • Evaluates and reviews the plan of care at regularly scheduled office visits utilizing sound clinical judgment based on assessment of physical, psychological, emotional, societal and environmental needs of the patients.

  • Completes appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care, and services rendered in the electronic medical record to accurately reflect services in the patient record and to ensure appropriateness of billing.

  • Timely attention to NextGen inbox and PAQ for test results and other critical communication.

  • Communicates with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment.

  • Assists individuals to assume responsibility for the prevention of illness and the promotion of health maintenance and/or restoration of health.

  • Observes the Munson Healthcare Advance Practice Provider prescriptive authority guidelines.

  • Flexibility in scheduling when last minutes issues arise (co-worker illnesses, etc.)

  • Maintains knowledge of current medical trends and ongoing professional development in pertinent medical fields.

  • Participates in and / or serves as a resource for medical, nursing, and community education programs. Meets department productivity requirements. Recognizes and understands the need for full daily schedules. Independently monitors own daily appointment schedule and works in conjunction with other staff members to fill open appointment times.

  • Responds to medical emergencies as required.

  • Promotes personal and patient safety.

  • Demonstrates ability to communicate, relate and interact effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.

  • Attends CME seminars and conferences to maintain licensure and currency in field.

  • Maintains current BLS.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

    Education / Training

  • Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies.

    Certification, Licensure, Registration

  • State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required.
