ITW Engineering Project Manager in Troy, Ohio

ITW Food Equipment Group, Global Weigh & Wrap Division is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to help lead high performance engineering teams to create and build world class weighing and wrapping equipment. This is a full-time and on-site project management role located in Troy, Ohio. The Hobart and Avery Berkel brands are renowned for premium, innovative technical solutions in the Food Equipment industry. As an Engineering Project Manager, you will support cross functional engineering teams to complete customer project development and execution. This support includes project requirements, scope definition and costing, design formulation and release, production support, customer installation and support, and service support. A successful candidate that has demonstrated problem solving ability, enjoys all aspects of engineering projects from inception to deployment, and a demonstrated ability to multitask and handle a high volume of customer facing projects will thrive in this role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Requirements definition and scope definition for engineering teams and projects.

  • Working with leadership teams and customers to help define and manage project priorities and dashboarding.

  • Project discovery, approval processes, and scheduling across multiple engineering teams.

  • Tracking of project scope, milestones, deliverables, KPIs, and engineering resources to meet time and budget requirements.

  • Define deliverables and milestones, monitor project performance, and initiate actions to correct deviations to schedules, excessive costs, or scope.

  • Lead regular meetings to provide information, identify interdependencies, and mitigate risks to ensure projects are successful.

  • Interface with leadership to assure accurate and timely communication of project status.

  • Project progress, reporting, and escalation of deliverables under risk.

  • Coordination of resources, engineering teams, and customers to ensure delivery and acceptance.

  • Management of release documentation and product delivery pipelines.

  • Travel to manufacturing plants, customers, and Global Weigh & Wrap locations (Hillsboro, Ohio, USA and Birmingham, United Kingdom) as required. Up to 15% travel required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.

  • 3-5 years of successful Project Management experience.

  • Experience with moderate to complex projects and demonstrated risk management.

  • Proven record of designing and implementing successful projects meeting cost, quality, and schedule

  • Ability to determine risks and urgency and make timely decisions that are clear and support project assignments.

  • Knowledge in specification, development, design, integration, and/or product engineering in a project environment.

  • Project Scheduling for multiple projects and cross functional teams to meet tight deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous improvement across a broad level/scope.

  • Ability to build relationships, interface cross-functional teams, and build consensus among a large group.

  • Ability to influence without direct authority.

  • Experience in working with customers, sales teams, and marketing teams to gather technical requirements and delivery acceptance.

  • Proven ability to successfully solve complex business and technical problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree.

  • Project Management certification such as CAPM or PMP.

  • Experience with Agile processes and/or Kanban processes in a manufacturing setting.

  • Firm understanding of Engineering Documentation, Drawings, and developing BOMs with MRP systems.

  • Experience with PLM systems and approval routing/processes.

  • Experience with remote teams, global teams, and/or contracted teams

  • Working knowledge of food industry engineering standards, practices, and regulations.

  • Office, Lab, and Manufacturing environments.

  • PPE required: Steel toe shoes and eye protection are required in manufacturing and lab areas.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, or stoop and use hands, arms and walk frequently. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
