Rise Baking Company 2ND SHIFT Warehouse Associate I/FORK LIFT OPERATOR in Tucker, Georgia

The Forklift Operator is responsible for receiving, storing, selecting and loading products within the warehouse.

The Fine Details

  • Selection and preparation of customer orders in a manner that insures complete fulfillment of each order, accurate receipt and documentation for inbound product.

  • Affixes pallet tags and marks materials with other identifying information upon receipt

  • Conveys products and materials from receiving areas to storage or other designated areas; rotates stock to enable oldest stock to be most accessible for picking.

  • Places items on racks, shelves or bins according to predetermined slot assignments; ensures proper warehouse cleanliness is maintained at all times.

  • Reads pick tickets, pick labels (or on-screen display, etc.), assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets; loads trailers with merchandise scheduled to be shipped.

  • Maintains performance at or above productivity standards and service level targets established by the company.

  • Operates within applicable safety guidelines as per government regulations, the company's safety manuals and/or stated safety policies, and common sense.

  • Performs inspection of material handling equipment and maintains fluid levels to ensure continuous optimal operation.

  • Follows up on all customer requests and questions to ensure appropriate response is made and customer is satisfied.

  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety rules as stated in the Employee Handbook and otherwise posted or communicated.

  • Other duties as assigned to help meet company goals.

The Secret Ingredients

  • Certified in both standing and sitting forklift operation.

  • Experience using RF scanners.

  • 1+ years of experience working in a warehouse environment, Food and/or beverage industry preferred.

The individual in this role will spend a significant amount of time on the plant floor, which is where most of the hazards detailed below will be encountered.

  • The employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles and/or aromas.

  • The noise level in the work environment is loud in the production environment.

  • The employee will be exposed to a hot, humid environment on the production floor, especially during the summer months. Winter months may provide for a cold environment.

  • The employee will be exposed to refrigerated and frozen environments in storage areas.

  • Required PPE includes slip-resistant footwear, hair/beard nets, hearing protection, and safety glasses. When performing some functions, bump caps, gloves, and chemical-resistant coverings may be required.

Physical demands

  • Reaching with hands and arms and the ability to use hands and fingers.

  • Ability to see, hear, and speak.

  • Frequently required to stand for up to four hours at a time.

  • Required to walk, climb stairs and ladders, and/or balance one’s body.

  • Some of these roles may require the ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds, infrequently.
