Responsibilities

Palo Verde Behavioral Health Hospital provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PVBH is an 84-bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PVBH has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in Tucson, AZ, at the base of the Catalina Foothills, PVBH is minutes to Saguaro National Park and the University of Arizona.

The Director of Intake/Admissions Referral is a key member of the Palo Verde leadership team who interfaces with medical staff, department heads, administration and treatment teams and functions as a liaison with other hospital intake departments. As a clinician, this position provides direction to staff of specialists in the provision of psychiatric assessment services including clinical evaluations, crisis intervention and referrals.

Directly supervises the intake/admissions employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Qualifications

    Job Requirements:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate knowledge and skill in provision of services to various populations including children, adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients in an outpatient and partial hospital setting.

    Education: Master's degree in social, behavioral or mental health services field from an accredited college or university.

    Credentials: Licensure by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Examiners as an LCSW or RN Licensure

    Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a program director or higher-level position. Experience with overseeing services in an admissions/intake environment, preferably in mental health.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITON:

    • Must be able to demonstrate special training, knowledge and skills specific to age groups, as well as job and/or program specific competency within the first three (3) months of training, and annually thereafter.

    • Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire; PPD skin test required annually or chest x-ray every 4 years thereafter.

    • Must obtain and maintain a Class 1 Arizona Fingerprint Clearance
