Our teams are currently hiring an Integrated Circuit Architect and Sub-Systems Engineer for a broad range of experience levels including: Mid-Level, Lead, Senior . This position will be based out of Tukwila, Washington.

Within BR&T, Boeing’s Solid State Electronics Development organization (SSED) performs microelectronics technology development and design for aerospace systems. We develop digital, analog, and RF Systems on Chip (SoCs) for radar, navigation, electronic warfare, communications, processing, and other electronic systems. These systems are used on Boeing airborne, terrestrial, and satellite platforms. SSED has numerous microelectronics projects, funded both by internal Boeing customers and external Government Science and Technology (S&T) customers, and is nationally recognized in aerospace microelectronics design communities.

We are seeking IC Architects and Sub-Systems Engineers to support fast-paced microelectronics research and development efforts. With the relentless miniaturization of microelectronics, systems are integrated on a single die as a System on Chip or in a package as a System in Package (SiP). Successful candidates will define architectures, develop verification methods, and develop requirements for SoCs/SiPs for military-aerospace applications, including Trusted and Assured Microelectronics and Resilient Edge Processing. They will perform trade studies for algorithm implementation in software, FPGA fabric, and custom accelerators; develop, model, and optimize algorithms for hardware implementation; and support verification of these algorithms.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute trade studies for SoC architectures/microarchitectures

  • Develop and manage technical specifications, ICDs, and other design documentation

  • Develop system and behavioral models (e.g. Excel, Matlab, Arm Socrates)

  • Develop and manage requirements and verification plans

  • Develop signal processing, image processing, network processing, and data protection algorithms

  • Simulate and optimize algorithms

  • Troubleshoot and verify algorithms implemented on a hardware platform

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • Experience with System on Chip (SoC) hardware/software

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C, C++, and MATLAB

  • Experience effectively communicating, both verbally and in writing, and collaborating on multi-discipline teams

  • Demonstrated track record as a high-performance team member

  • Effective analytical skills with an ability to identify and resolve issues

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with SoC/SiP design and verification

  • Experience in engineering/mathematics/physics to solve complex algorithm problems

  • Experience with industry Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and methodologies for digital ASIC/FPGA/SoC design and verification

  • Knowledge of signal processing, image processing, network processing, and data protection concepts

  • Experience with systematic and iterative approach of algorithm development to meet fault tolerance, low latency, and other key performance requirements

  • Experience supporting military radar, communications, hardware security, or avionics/mission programs

Typical Education & Experience:

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 5)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range Mid-Level (Level 3): $104,550.00 - $141,450.00

Summary pay range Lead (Level 4): $126,650.00 - $171,350.00

Summary pay range Senior (Level 5): $155,550.00 - $210,450.00
