Job Summary:

Develop, coordinate, and implement a standardized safety program to support mission requirements. The program includes occupational safety and health, weapons safety, mishap investigation, hazard abatement, safety inspections and safety training.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA and related DoD compliance.

  • Develop plans, procedures, and policies to continuously improve the base safety program.

  • Develop, coordinate, and execute an effective safety training program.

  • Develop and maintain the safety and health program records-keeping and reporting system.

  • Perform root cause analysis and provides guidance toward appropriate corrective action for safety incidents and findings.

  • Plan and develop strategies for a comprehensive risk management program that includes appropriate performance records of all risk management programs.

  • Coordinate OSHA and other required training programs targeted to reduce employee injuries and lost work time.

  • Keep abreast of pending regulatory developments through reference sources.

  • Effectively manage the explosive safety program to include conducting annual explosive safety trainings to ensure compliance.

  • Conduct routine facility inspections to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.

  • Maintain Personal Protective Equipment inventory.

  • Implement occupational environmental health (OEH) control programs to protect FSS and DoD employees’ health.

  • Perform OEH assessments in workplaces to identify health hazards and make recommendations for fixing or mitigating findings.

  • Provide industrial hygiene support to the incident command during emergency situations.

  • Review and update OEH related standards as required.

  • Provide technical assistance and training support to supervisors on hazard and health issues.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • US. citizenship

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene (or related field) or Certified Safety Professional certification

  • At least 3 years of experience in occupational safety and health

Desired Qualification:

  • Completion of the USAF Weapon’s Safety Manager Course or equivalent Explosives Safety Certification

  • Experience with the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System (DOEHRS)
