JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Assistant Vice President for Commonwealth Campus Enrollment Management will provide strategic and innovative leadership designed to achieve successful enrollment and completion outcomes related to undergraduate student quantity, quality, and diversity (racial/ethnic, geographic, and socio-economic) for Penn State’s Commonwealth Campuses.

The successful candidate will report to the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses, with a secondary reporting line to the Vice President for Enrollment Management. In this senior leadership role, the Assistant Vice President will lead the development and execution of an intentional, integrated, and informed strategic enrollment management infrastructure. This role will collaborate with academic and administrative leaders and utilize data-driven approaches to enhance enrollment and retention outcomes that seamlessly integrate and align with the university’s mission and strategic objectives.

The Assistant Vice President will:

  • Foster collaboration with key university stakeholders, including Chancellors, admissions leaders, financial aid staff, and those involved in enrollment and retention initiatives at Commonwealth campuses, Enrollment Management, and Global Programs.

  • Supervise regional directors of enrollment management and collaborate with chancellors to jointly supervise enrollment directors at other campuses. Ensure data is being leveraged and used consistently across the CWC to guide practice.

  • Develop and lead the creation of a unified, consistent, and student-focused marketing and recruitment strategy that promotes all PSU programs, locations, modalities, and services to identify, attract, enroll, and retain diverse and academically competitive successful students in alignment with the university mission.

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among various stakeholders who support student success, including academic leaders, student services, DEIB leaders, and other CWC units to coordinate efforts to implement a cohesive approach to student support and retention.

  • Develop and communicate enrollment targets and key progress indicators (KPIs) and leverage existing reporting systems designed to track and measure the effectiveness of admissions, student aid, and retention strategies.

  • Inform and develop marketing, recruitment, and retention initiatives targeting university mission-based aspirations including, but not limited to, students of color, first-generation, students from lower income backgrounds, rural as well as other underrepresented high school and community college groups.

  • Ensure adoption of best practices approaches to on and off-campus recruitment programs.

  • Develop consistent lead cultivation/lead nurturing campaigns and protocols.

  • Design and develop comprehensive training programs and materials, in collaboration with Enrollment Management, for new and existing campus admissions and student aid staff including onboarding procedures, skill development workshops, and process updates.

  • Leverage data to work with campus leaders to improve first-year outcomes

  • Collaborate with the admissions, financial aid and registrar teams to identify systemic issues and solutions that may require recalibrating existing policy/process and/or system-wide technology solutions.

  • Lead the development and implementation of revised undergraduate admissions territory management program designed to increase enrolled students, optimize travel, and enhance accountability.

  • In collaboration with OVPCC and Chancellors, identify high-priority academic programs and develop targeted recruitment plans to support new student enrollments in identified programs.

  • Partner with the Directors of Enrollment Management, University Strategic Communications, and University Admissions Office to create and implement an integrated, coordinated, consistent, and impactful marketing and communication plan that is consistent with marketing strategy and supports achievement of articulated enrollment goals.

  • Align institutional aid resources to develop a coherent financial aid strategy that aligns with market forces and facilitates the achievement of new and continuing student enrollment and net tuition revenue goals.

  • Develop and lead initiatives to improve the transfer pathway through targeted recruitment programs and articulation agreements. Oversee the RaiseMe scholarship program in support of community college student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.

  • Inform the budgets for Commonwealth Campus enrollment management and retention initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with institutional financial goals.

The Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management must have earned a master’s degree and have a minimum of ten years of progressive management experience in higher education, with an emphasis on admissions, financial aid, and enrollment management initiatives. A combination of education and years of experience will be considered. Regular travel to all Commonwealth Campuses is expected.

  • Knowledge, familiarity, and experience with admission funnel management

  • Ability to support and communicate the mission of the Pennsylvania State University and the Commonwealth Campuses to prospective first-year and transfer students.

  • Proven track record of planning, implementing, managing, and assessing enrollment management initiatives with a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and presentation skills.

  • Proven ability to recruit, retain, and coach a diverse staff; commitment to develop staff so that they may assume expanded responsibilities and roles. Provide ongoing support and guidance to admissions staff helping them to navigate challenges and develop their skills.

  • High level of data fluency and track record of successfully turning data into action.
