JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies (CAMS) and the Jewish Studies Program ( https://cams.la.psu.edu ) of The Pennsylvania St ate University ( https://psu.edu ) invite applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Teaching Profe ssor position in Hebrew Bible for the 2023–2024 academic year, beginning August 14, 2023. This is a non-tenure-track , 36-week term appointment (two academic semesters) , with the possibility of reappointment. We seek candidates who are able to teach survey courses in Hebrew Bible and Early Judaism, as well as Biblical Hebrew language. Responsibilities will include teaching six courses, three per semester . The successful candidate will also be expected to promote and advance the department’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible, Northwest Semitic languages, Religious Studies, Near Eastern Studies, or related field in hand at the time of appointment ; expertise in Biblical Hebrew; teaching experience; and evidence of high quality in teaching.

In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable , and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.
