Applications are now being accepted for Senior Software Developer - SATech with Student Affairs Technology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Student Affairs Technology serves as the IT department for a variety of Student Affairs units on the campus to provide better efficiency, broader support, and operational resiliency, as well as create richer employment environment for the IT staff. Job Summary

Part of a team responsible for providing technical support to departments across Student Affairs, combines hands-on development expertise with responsibilities for guiding the work of other developers. Supervises midlevel and junior developers and leads development projects, ensuring high-quality software solutions according to development standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor midlevel and junior developers, providing guidance and direction to ensure project success and professional growth.
  • Analyze, design, develop and implement systems and procedures to address complex business needs.
  • Lead development projects, platform and tool migrations.
  • Prepare detailed requirements, specifications, test plans, and other documentation required to guide technical development.
  • Collaborate with development team leadership to make recommendations for standards, quality assurance, architecture and deployment strategies.
  • Work with other Technology Services units and campus to ensure systems meet security standards.
  • Evaluate new and emerging technologies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including on-call support as needed.

Additional Physical Demands

Hybrid work options may be available for this position, with the ability to be on-site at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign campus as needed per the University\'s Workplace Flexibility policy.

Most on-site work will be accomplished in a typical office work environment but may include visits to different customer and meeting locations on campus.

May be required to be on call in cases of system failure or development deadlines.

Minimum Qualification

High school diploma or equivalent.

Five (5) years of work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field, that included application development experience in a Microsoft .NET/SQL environment.

College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows:

- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year,

- Associate\'s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months,

- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years,

- Bachelor\'s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years).

Demonstrated experience working as a team lead on application development projects.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree in a technology-related field.

Five (5) years of application development experience in a Microsoft .NET/SQL environment.

Experience supervising developers.

Experience with systems integrations with cloud software platforms.

Experience with API integrati n.

Experience with database design (SQL Server or other).

Experience with data reporting and visualization .

Experience with software version control (such as TFS or Git).

Experience with UI/UX for applications .

Experience with University of Illinois data management systems (including Banner/EDW, campus authentication, and campus credit card processing systems).

Experience with Drupal.

Experience with PHP.

Experience with web accessibility tools and compliance.

Experience with healthcare systems.
