Sterile Processing Department-Educator
Department: STERILE PROCESSING DEPARTMENT
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Sterile Processing department Manager or designee, the Educator will fulfill standard staff education and training in all areas including but not limited to new hire training, Endoscopy/HLD training, Process Improvement Coaching and Interim Education. This also includes the decontamination, sterilization, and assembly areas.
Core Job Responsibilities
Ensure employees are effectively trained on all required competency skill levels as required by regulatory committees.
Conduct sterile processing employee assessments of job performance to policy and standard work; identifies competency deficiencies and conducts effective training to eliminate gaps.
Participate and assist in new hire orientation and on the job training as directed by the SPD Manager per company policy.
Complete and maintain training records, employee education files and documentation of competency skill level as required by regulatory body.
Ensure employee training files and documentation of competency skill level, certifications, and continuing education credits are up to date and accurately reflect the employees’ job-related responsibilities.
Demonstrate extensive knowledge of multi-specialty instrumentation and serves as a resource for staff in SPD.
Provide re-education training and communication for performance issues found in the OR and instrumentation tray audits and assist in driving the identified quality measures..
Conduct employee assessments and trains to deficiencies noted.
Aid in the on-going development of staff education by providing in-services to staff at a cadence determined by the SPD Manager and/or operations leadership.
Conduct training education plan for new employees with or without central sterile processing experience.
Assist in development, collection, and support of the performance improvement measures outlined by the SPD department.
Adjust schedule to work with all employees on all shifts to ensure training needs are met and supported. Ability to work pre-arranged weekend, night, and evening hours.
Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
High School Diploma required
2+ years training experience or leadership in Sterile Processing required
5+ years Sterile Processing experience required
Licensure/Certification Requirements
REQUIRED:
CRCST (HSPA) or CSPDT (CBSPD) certification
Must maintain certification by completing 12 Continuing Education Credit Hours each year, or more if required for a specific certification
