Hyatt Regency Vancouver is seeking a dedicated, customer service professional to join the Sales team as Sales Manager.
Salary range: 70,000 - 75,000 per year. Eligible for Sales incentive program.
The Sales Manager has experience in group sales, business travel sales and event sales. The Sales Manager is responsible for growing business in the group and some transient segments. This individual will continue to develop existing accounts as well as procure new business for the hotel. The Sales Manager is also responsible for meeting assigned monthly and quarterly sales goals. Primary duties include responding to incoming inquiries and proactive solicitation of new business from various segments, including group and transient markets.
Responsibilities include selling guest rooms, meeting space, food and beverage and other Hyatt services to meetings and conventions. The Sales Manager is an integral part of the Sales team and works closely with Events, Revenue Management, Reservations and operational departments to ensure smooth operation of all business booked. We are looking for a strong team player with experience in group and transient sales at a medium to large sized property.
Interested candidates must have the ability to adjust work schedules to meet business demands, which may occasionally require early mornings, evening and/or weekend hours.
Duties include but not limited to:
Actively solicit and secure new meetings business through outside calls, personal calls, site inspections, telephone and email prospecting and potentially sales trips to designated geographic areas of responsibility
Meet and exceed revenue sales goals on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
Maintain strong relationships with existing accounts to rebook annual or past programs
Generate new clientele opportunities through referrals, customer recommendations and market awareness
Solidify relationships with new and existing clients through regular sales contacts/visits, client entertainment, site inspections and necessary follow up
Develop creative sales solutions and site inspections to distinguish Hyatt as the place to meet in a competitive Vancouver market
Proactive in adhering to expected sales activities on a weekly basis to ensure individual and team goals are achieved
Meet or exceed sales solicitation goals as assigned by the Director of Sales and Marketing
Source new accounts in the corporate, association and union sectors among others, to maintain and enhance a healthy portfolio of group business accounts
Respond to client requests in a timely fashion and ensure all proposals and contracts meet client expectations while following all hotel guidelines
Participate in business review meetings and other pertinent meetings as required
Participate in trade shows, industry functions and possibly out of town sales calls
Engage with definite groups on-site and communicate with Events and other operations departments to ensure client satisfaction
Maintain relationship with Hyatt Sales Force directors as well as other local industry organizations such as Destination Vancouver
Remain current on all competitors as well as changes in the market and industry
Provide monthly and other required activity reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing
Partner with operations team to coordinate customer needs and effectively respond to opportunities to ensure client satisfaction

Qualifications:
Qualifications
College degree or high school diploma with related experience
Previous hotel sales management experience
Must be fluent in spoken and written English; a second language is also an asset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including leading and participating in formal presentations
Ability to secure business through prospecting, making presentations, strong negotiation and closing skills
Solid organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Excellent computer skills
Knowledge of TravelClick business intelligence products and STR reports
Experience with a major hotel brand is preferred
Ability to work as part of a team
Strong desire to deliver high quality customer service
Detail oriented and organized as it pertains to accuracy and efficiency
Solid management and organizational skills
