Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation's discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.  

 

We are looking for a Part Time 3rd Shift Quality Assurance Lab Technician to be responsible for the grading of processed and raw fruit products in accordance with standard operating procedures; recording, checking and retrieval of QA information at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA. Performs laboratory analyses on samples and related work associated with monitoring and sampling.   Ensures timely and accurate documentation is completed. This is a 3rd shift, 11:00 pm -- 7:00 am, part-time, (full time during our fresh pack season, typically July -- November, and when running production off season; part time the rest of the year).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable in Good Manufacturing Policies (GMPs) and ensures that proper safety equipment is worn - gloves, safety glasses, and earplugs.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintains all required QA analysis documentation.
  • Performs laboratory analyses on samples and related work associated with monitoring and sampling; tests and inspects samples in various stages of production.
  • Ensures accurate and timely input of data to information systems and recommends and/or performs appropriate actions when data indicates unsatisfactory operations.
  • Notifies Lab Supervisors and Production Managers of any deviations of quality or safety factors.

     

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year of office or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Requires walking, reaching with hands and arms; may climb or balance; may stoop, kneel or crouch. Climbing stairs and navigating under machinery/equipment.
  • Requires attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Able to hear and communicate clearly.  Requires close and distance vision.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and work an extended schedule seasonally, generally June -- November; overtime and weekend work required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work 3^rd^ shift (11:00 pm -- 7:00 am), and to work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early November.

Compensation:

The wage is $18.50 an hour, based on experience and qualifications, plus a 3rd^nd^ shift differential pay of $1.00 an hour for a total of $19.50 an hour.
