PeaceHealth is seeking an MRI Technologist for a Per Diem/Relief, 0.00 FTE, Variable position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $41.18 – $61.32. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Responsible for performing all routine and specialized MRI procedures by integrating medical knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and accurate diagnostic information.

DETAILS OF POSITION:

  • Prepare, supply and equip exam room to meet the needs of requested examinations and to meet specific physician requirements for procedures.

  • Organizes daily work schedule and performs related clerical duties as required.

  • Integrates previous imaging studies, laboratory results, patient history and medical records to optimize exam.

  • Perform most appropriate examination based on patient information through consultation with interpreting physician and/or ordering physician as necessary.

  • Provides patient education and instruction prior to and after examination. Provide training/education to staff and students as indicated.

  • Demonstrates ability to adapt exam to address problems of patient care as they arise making decisions to appropriately resolve problems. Recognizes and ensures additional study and examination techniques are applied when abnormalities are present.

  • Operates MRI scanner for data acquisition, reconstruction and documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.

  • Applies the ACR Guidance Document for Safe MR Practices to ensure patient, visitor and caregiver safety.

  • Performs other patient care activities, duties and responsibilities as assigned consistent with Caregivers’ scope of practice, training, experience and license/certification/registration.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Accredited School Required: Radiologic Technology. or equivalent education and/or experience as required for obtaining certification/license/registration as required by State for clinical practice

  • Minimum of 1 year Preferred: Previous experience

Required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development, and life stages to meet each patient’s need

  • Demonstrated venipuncture competency

  • Demonstrated knowledge of radiologic and MRI terminology, practices, procedures, physiology, and human cross-sectional anatomy

  • Demonstrated competency in computer-based programs as they relate to MR applications

  • PACS/RIS knowledge

  • Preferred:

  • ImageCast/CareCast experience

Credentials

  • Required Upon Hire: ARRT - Radiography or ARRT - Magnetic Resonance Imaging or ARRT - Sonography or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist or American Registry of MRI Technologists Certification

  • Required within 1-1/2 Yrs.: ARRT - Magnetic Resonance Imaging

  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

  • May be required: Licensure/Certification/Registration to practice in trained modality as required by the State

Southwest Medical Center:

  • ARRT (MR) certification is required within 6 months of hire.

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment.

  • Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 30 lbs.

  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 13 lbs. force. Occasionally up to 30 lbs. force.

  • Reaching frequently.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
