The Doe Run Company is currently seeking a Core Processing Supervisor to supervise the team that logs and processes all surface and underground diamond drill core in order to make certain that quality logging and sampling occur in a timely fashion and maintain pace with drilling activities. This position is located at our 28 Mine in Viburnum, MO.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Geology or Earth Science based field, equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years prior leadership, training, or mentoring experience.
  • Core logging experience preferred.
  • Experience in detailed sampling processes and quality.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Forklift Certified (must be able to obtain once employed with Doe Run).
  • First Aid Training Certification (must be able to obtain once employed with Doe Run).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, databases (Acquire), HRIS systems, and ERP systems.
  • Working knowledge of core logging and sampling procedures.
  • Highly organized and attention to detail.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient leadership skills to coach and lead teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the geologic core inspection team, including performance management, resolving issues, assigning tasks, and providing guidance.
  • Maintain core room facility and equipment; keep core room running efficiently and ensure equipment is in good working order. Order supplies and oversee the maintenance of the core room facility. Conduct safety audits of the core room and annex and resolve any issues.
  • Oversee that core logging and sampling are accurate with quality logging by auditing and ensuring established standard operating procedures are followed. Visually inspect drill core; inspect drill holes, log drill core, describe geological features within the core, determine samples to be assayed, and prep samples for the lab.
  • Utilize software in order to maintain core database; organize electronic logs of core information, input data derived from visual inspection of core into AcQuire database, run reports, and search for data as needed. Develop and maintain core library index and sample/pulp repository.
  • Maintain EHS (environmental, health, and safety) compliance by holding direct reports accountable for adherence to EHS policies, procedures, and best practices; evaluating employee EHS performance via field observations and document review; reporting and correcting unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and providing feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Environmental Conditions, Physical and Lifting Requirements:

  • Regularly required to use a comp ter and phone. Occasionally operates forklift. Occasionally uses nonpowered hand tools. Rarely uses powered hand tools and loading/hauling equipment.
  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, vibration, and work near moving mechanical parts. Rarely exposed to wet and humid conditions, and extreme heat or cold (non-weather). Rarely required to wear a respirator, or work at heights of 4 or more with fall protection. Moderate noise.
  • Regularly requires ability to talk and hear. Frequently requires grasping, pushing, and reaching with hands/arms. Occasionally requires sitting, standing, walking, driving, and repetitive wrist/finger movement. Rarely requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, or balancing, Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, three-dimensional vision, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds. Rarely required to lift up to 100 pounds.
