Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. Will have project lead role and or supervise lower-level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 years of software engineering or related experience.

Responsibilities

As a member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing and building components for OCI Object Storage systems. Object Storage is a highly scalable and performant public facing service for storing unlimited amount of unstructured data. Components include Web Servers, Storage Servers, Cloud Gateways, and Bulk Import Appliances. You will own development of new components and features, from initial concepts through design, implementation, test, and operation. Your intelligence and expertise will result in a sense of accomplishment as you create new features as well as oversee their use by customers in a production environment. This is your chance to be part of an exciting new technology that is hot in the market, has many opportunities to work on new features, and is already in demand by customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior architects and Product Management to define requirements

  • Work with the team to document designs

  • Builds entire systems & services.

  • Drives organization-wide improvements in some subset of: shared code, engineering practices, ops practices, development process, ownership, hiring, mentoring.

  • Drives the design and architecture of their product /service.

  • Drives operational readiness and excellence of their product /service. Drives planning. Identifies and mitigates risks in their project and the architecture of their products.

  • Implement code, review code written by your peers

  • Write test automation

  • Share responsibility with other team members to deploy new code to production.

  • Work with the team to operate services that host massive amounts of data

  • Trusted to serve as Tier2 or specialized escalation point for operations events.

  • Leads deep dives into events during calls and in support of CAPA.

  • Serves as primary point of contact for resolving complex operations issues.

  • Develops new metrics and dashboards to improve situational awareness.

  • Works independently with minimum directions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with a major Object-Oriented Programming language - Java.

  • Understanding of data structures and design patterns

  • Aptitude for problem solving and trouble shooting

  • Experience with RESTful Web Services or Storage Systems is a plus

  • Experience with massively scalable systems is a plus and any prior cloud experience is a plus

  • Experience in Storage
