Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Chief Flight Instructor (CFI) in establishing standardization across the CAE Global training centre network within the specified geographical area of responsibility.

  • Acting as a member of the ATO Standards Committee, representing the CFI and Head of Training to implement agreed instructor standardization policies.

  • Overseeing standardization requirements for the global training centre network in accordance with relevant regulatory standards and other applicable regulations.

  • Collaborating with Training Performance teams and other Standards team members to ensure consistency across the Global CAE Network.

  • Serving as the main contact for ATO standardization for Operations, Training Centre leadership, and Training Managers at respective sites.

  • Working with the Head of Training and the ATO Standards Committee to develop optimal policies and procedures for the global training centre network, particularly regarding instructor standardization.

  • Ensuring the quality and compliance of instructor training, from initial training courses to train-the-trainer courses and supporting courseware, to meet CAE's highest standards.

  • Establishing and communicating policies and training requirements for instructor creation, aligned with CAE's broader policies as directed by the Head of Training Performance.

  • Ensuring ongoing compliance of Instructor initial, annual, and triennial training, including Train-the-Trainers, Mentors, and Coaches.

  • Collaborating with the Training Design function of the CGTO to ensure instructor and tutor training programs and courseware comply with regulations and CAE standards.

  • Monitoring instructor standards to ensure adherence to established criteria, including conducting on-site spot checks.

  • Collaborating with the Training Performance team on instructor recruitment processes to select candidates meeting technical and non-technical qualifications for the global training centre network.

  • Promoting the compliance and safety culture of CAE, including SMS & Non-Compliance reporting, and acting as an SME during Safety Action Group Meetings as needed.

Qualifications and Education

  • Hold an ATPL license and associated ratings or certificates in accordance with Part FCL for FTO flight training courses.

  • Meet minimum flight hour requirements as per regulatory standards and CAE policy outlined in the ATO Operations manual requirements.

  • Completion of the 3 Day Competency Based Training & Assessment training (may be waived with CFI's agreement).

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications.

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in training Ab Initio cadets for professional pilot licenses, including Multi Crew Cooperation.

  • Hold or have held an EASA FCL FE, CAA UK FCL FE, or other relevant examiner certificates.

  • 3 or more years of experience delivering or managing instructor training at an ATO and/or AOC.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for all courses specified on the ATO certificate.

  • 3 years of prior experience with Regulatory Authorities and strong managerial and customer service skills preferred.
