Position Overview

The Deputy Head of Training role will define and coordinate the execution of training programs across the EASA & UK CAA ATO, including any associated additional approvals such as Qatar & ANAC for Ab Initio Training. The Deputy Head of Training is responsible for ensuring that FTO training is safe, compliant with appropriate regulations and conforming with the guidance issued in the ATO manual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the compliance of Ab Initio training with relevant regulations, including cadet, instructor, and examiner training curriculums and associated materials, and the integration of flight training in flight simulation training devices (FSTD).

  • Supervise Ab Initio student progress through the ATO's delegated authority infrastructure and liaise with operational training teams to deliver safe and compliant training as per ATO requirements.

  • Lead central training delivery functions as designated by the Head of Training.

  • Evaluate the availability of suitably qualified training staff for required flight and theoretical knowledge training tasks.

  • Support, supervise, guide, and lead the Ab Initio Manager Training Services and Training Managers.

  • Ensure training delivery aligns with the ATO OM and Training Manuals, report regulatory discrepancies, and propose solutions to the Head of Training.

  • Report on Training Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and assist the Head of Training in ATO policy and process optimization.

  • Act as the focal point for ATO training delivery for Operations, Training Center leadership, Managers Training Services, and Training Managers.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers as agreed with the Head of Training, Director of Operations, and Director of Sales.

  • Collaborate with the Sales Team to address potential client needs and represent the Head of Training as required .

  • Ensure training is conducted in strict adherence to approved Operations and Training Manuals, SOPs, and syllabi with relevant stakeholders.

  • Manage all client training and performance issues in conjunction with the relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure training programs and courseware comply with regulatory and CAE standards in conjunction with the Training Design function of the CGTO within the branch.

  • Promote a culture of compliance and safety within the company and facilitate SMS and Non-Compliance reporting as needed during Safety Action Group Meetings in conjunction with the Global Safety, Quality Assurance, and Compliance function of the CGTO.

    Qualifications and Education

  • Hold or have held the highest professional pilot license and associated ratings relevant to conducted flight training courses and hold an instructor certificate permitting instruction for at least one of the training courses provided.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in training as an instructor for professional pilot licenses and/or associated ratings or certificates relating to their branch, including ATP and MPLI.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a manager of pilot training at an ATO and/or AOC.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for all courses in their branch.

  • Sound knowledge of ATO approval procedures and process-driven organizational structures.

  • Understanding of KSA 100 protocols.
