GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Agriculture is searching for a Senior Inspection Specialist for its Technical Services Division. This position is responsible for pesticide program inspections and complaints for the western side of the state and providing support for the leaf cutter bee lab as required. The successful candidate must be able to become a subject matter expert in the laws and regulations of pesticide applications in Wyoming and will be responsible for training other staff. Additionally, they must possess good organizational skills, be adept at time management, and have good interpersonal and group communication skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
Investigates pesticide complaints.
Inspects pesticide applicators and restricted-use pesticide dealers for compliance
Support leaf cutter bee sampling and inspections as needed
Assist with the development of Division internal policies
Attend meetings and training events as needed and approved by management
Reviews statutes, rules, and regulations to maintain compliance
Perform other plant industry inspections as required
Train other Division staff as needed to become pesticide inspectors
Qualifications
PREFERENCES**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree in agriculture, natural resources or chemistry.
**Must have a valid driver's license
**Must have or obtain in the first twelve (12) months of employment, a Wyoming Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of report writing.
Knowledge of basic research methods.
Knowledge of government procedures and policies.
Knowledge of Technical Services Division programs.
Knowledge of effective training methods.
Knowledge of pesticides and pesticide applications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist II
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist II

None
Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Will be exposed to varying weather conditions both indoors and outdoors.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
