The Laboratory Technician provides support to laboratory personnel, prepares, and maintains laboratory equipment.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.
Required Education and Experience:
Associate degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
One year of related lab work experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- TAMU EHS Biosafety Certification
Responsibilities:
Oversees Lab Equipment
Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment, glassware and utensils for serviced research groups
Keeps centrifuge areas, darkroom, and other lab areas in order.
Plugs glass pipettes.
Maintains common inventory and orders parts and supplies as needed.
Transports glassware and small lab supplies.
Prepares and autoclaves tips, surgical instruments, pipettes, and bottles.
Autoclaves bacterial cultures and contaminated equipment as well as fresh solutions and media.
Prepares and autoclaves biohazard materials.
Prepares laboratory coats for laundry pickup.
Autoclave Reporting/Training
Uses AggieBuy to order consumable supplies related to autoclaves and dishwashers.
Trains and assists new lab personnel for the use of autoclaves.
Ensures complete training of new lab personnel and certifies to respective PI.
Assembles autoclave reports to send to EHS for Biosafety.
Downloads and records autoclave reports for 6th and 8th floor autoclaves and send to EHS for auditing.
Lab Operations
Assists with pouring well plates and chemical mixtures.
Assists laboratory personnel in daily operations.
