    Summary

    The LSE role is to provide the overall COE Technical direction and keep the COE’s baseline design up to date and accurate. Additionally, the LSE will work with and on the CAE Technology Roadmap as well as CAE Reference Architecture(s) to ensure solid standard designs within their COE projects and amongst the other COEs and their projects. Each LSE will also serve as an independent technical reviewer to the other COEs for proposal, technical reviews and technical performance evaluations of the other COE projects and resources.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads the Systems Engineering aspects of all lifecycle phases and the work performed by the various engineering components ensuring that various teams preform to needs and follow process:

  • Requirements Engineering

  • System(s) Engineering including:

  • Project Engineers

  • Program/Project Management

  • System Engineers, Architects

  • Technical Authorities

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Software Engineering

  • Logistical Engineering

  • Configuration Engineering

  • Conduct system engineering development tasks that includes system requirements analysis, system design, system integration support, test procedure development, and requirement verification and validation.

  • Performing system requirements analysis using Model Based System Engineering (SysML) and other system engineering tools.

  • Reviews project specifications, generates System /Sub-system requirements, and assists in creating component specifications.

  • Conduct or coordinate system level analysis and trade studies and complex design risk trade-off analysis.

  • Perform project requirements verification, cross-references to test documentation, and assists with the development of test plans and test procedures.

  • Leads and advises on the business development Lead to Award (L2A) process technical direction and follows standards and processes concerning the L2A activities.

  • Advise on the design activities and be the overall design authority during the Capture and Proposal phase of a program.

  • Advise on the design activities and be the overall design reviewer/approver during the development phase of all projects within their assigned COE.

  • Identify risk and cost driving design issues to support the Solution Development, Project Planning, Monitoring & Control and Risk Management processes.

  • Follows and improves corporate process.

Research new technologies for simulation methods and system architectures.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Qualification Requirements:

  • Ability to lead and perform all Systems Life Cycle (SLC) tasks

  • Demonstrated requirement writing abilities

  • Use of IBM DOORS at a knowledgeable user level

  • Knowledge of system and systems of systems design

  • Knowledge of the design progression of an architecture from proposal conceptual design through the final implemented design package release and approval by the customer/end-user stakeholders

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, technical specifications, proposals, and procedure manuals.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

    Education & Experience Requirements:

  • BS, MS in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Must possess at least 10 years’ experience as a Project Engineer, Systems Engineer, Systems Architect, Systems Development, Design, and Delivery.

    Preferred Skills

  • Model Based Systems Engineering concepts, experience and knowledge

  • Knowledge of modeling tool use and experience desired CAMEO, Enterprise Architect, or Rhapsody

  • Understand context diagramming and its application to architecture

  • Technical Leadership skills or training

  • Certification or willingness to obtain any of the INCOSE ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP.

  • Certification or willingness to obtain from OMG any of the SysML Model User, SysML Model Builder Fundamental, Intermediate, or Advanced.

  • Knowledge of SysML and UML practical use

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

    Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

    Work Environment

Must be able to travel CONUS and to International sites

Should be familiar with and able to support Engineering or Operations staff on any type and sub-component of training devices.

Must be willing to work overtime
