What’s the role?

Shell’s Lubricant Power sector business is facing exciting opportunities in both traditional and emerging markets. This requires the support of a resource with relevant deep technical sector experience. A strong understanding of sector equipment and the required lubricants to be used on them is needed. Experience in working closely with customers to add value through technical innovation, driving down total cost of ownership, as well as troubleshooting complex issues, is essential.


  • Provide product technical expertise on lubricant applications in the given sector with primary focus analyzing problems, generating solutions and advising customers, supporting, when called upon, the front-line technical support (LTA) and the account sales teams. Operate across the assigned territory and play a key role in the development and retention of existing business and enhancing Shell Lubricant’s reputation in the marketplace, above all within global and regional accounts.

  • Transfer and aggregate strategic and operational technical knowledge between Technology, Product Application Specialist, global product management and operational portfolio management teams to front line technical and sales teams, including knowledge received from and passed to, OEMs and customers, being both a proactive and reactive information channel and provider of training and coaching to Shell technical staff.

  • The Regional Technical Expert role is both reactive to customer problems and proactive in developing internal and external relationships, coaching front line staff and providing marketing support such as assisting with new product launches and field trials.

  • Provide Sales Support, work closely with Key account Managers (KAM), and Local Account Managers to develop high level technical support required for specific customers. This support will link to key account plans, particularly in the Suspect, Prospect and Approach activities.

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry or comparable technical background skills.

  • Minimum (2) two years in a technical lubricants & applications environment.

  • Minimum (5) five years of total experience.

  • Have engineering knowledge of and / or experience in the specified Sector.

  • Experience in a customer facing role beneficial.

  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.

  • Proven ability to manage customer expectations and build up relationship with mutual trust.

  • This position is a Virtual/Work from home.

  • This position requires frequent travel from home base. Up to 30%, usually an overnight stay.
