Role and Responsibilities

Summary

The Simulation System Engineer (SSE) works with in the System Life Cycle (SLC) of a project as the overall technical lead. The candidate functions as a technical specialist using systems engineering and MBSE methods for solving advanced conceptual, network, and software designs for simulators. The SSE works to cover requirement to design to ensure that customers needs are covered and implemented using the SLC. As the SLC is worked in phases the SSE is to work with Project Management as well a Project Engineering and other SMEs assigned to the project team.

  • Proposal solution development

  • Proposal Technical Writing

  • Requirements Engineering (understand requirement writing and deriving)

  • BOM development

  • Systems of System engineering design

  • Clearly represent customer requirements in system designs, breakdown structure, BOMs, etc.

  • Working knowledge with Cameo and MBSE designs

  • Develop and present review packages to customers

  • Provide technical support of all SLC phases and types of work performed by the department.

  • Provide support throughout the business development Lead through delivery including contract award.

  • Analyze the system to ensure that it will meet the stated performance requirements (e.g. flight performance, stability, weight, power, timing, human factors, throughput, etc.).

  • Stay current in industry advances. Research new simulation methods and system architectures.

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BS in Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer or Aerospace Engineering

  • Must possess at least 5 years’ experience in system engineering

  • Ability to perform requirements analysis and translate customer high level requirements or inputs into system and derived requirements, create systems solutions, and conceptual designs

  • Technical Lifecycle - Development, Design, Procurement, Implementation, and testing at a systems and subsystem level for both Hardware and Software

Tool / Skills

  • Security Clearance

  • Experience with two of the following: Cameo Systems Modeler, Enterprise Architect, or Capella

  • SQL, MATLAB, C++, C#, Java, etc.

  • Data structures and definition

  • Networking, PC architecture, Network Protocols (OSI, TCP, etc.), Interoperation, distributed SW

  • Experience with Aviation Systems and protocols

  • Experience validating models

  • Knowledge or working knowledge of SCADA

  • Context diagrams with input and output definitions for both hardware and software

  • Knowledge with industry system and software standards e.g. MIL, IEEE or IEC

Desired Certifications

  • Desired Object Management Group (OMG) Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) certification, preferably to the Model Builder-Intermediate or Model Builder-Advanced levels

  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification Works on both new business / proposal phase and after contract award (CSEP or ESEP)

    Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

    Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
