Youth Peer Mentor – Flexible Hours!

This position is working 10-15 hours per week with a pay rate of $10.00 per hour with flexible afternoon & weekend hours!

Are you looking to gain experience to become one of our Career Resource Specialists down the road? If so, then join us as aYouth Peer Mentorin changing young people’s lives!

Independence Works is looking for someone between the ages of 18 – 30, to provide services to youth, often with disabilities, by connecting them to long-term community resources and delivering the support needed to transition into post-secondary training, education, and employment.

As a Peer Mentor, you will engage with youth by connecting them to long-term community resources and delivering the initial social supports needed to effectively transition into post-secondary training, education, and employment.

Daily activities might include:

  • Tour of a Technical Center, College, or University

  • Job Shadowing in an area of interest

  • Participating in Job or Career Fairs

  • Referrals to Community Resources

  • Support Students with Disability Services and Building Social Skills

  • Helping to Build Social Engagement for Networking

Our ideal Youth Peer Mentor will have the following attributes:

  • Have a passion for helping others.

  • Able to travel to meet with mentees in the community.

  • Enjoys working with a team where they will continually be learning through training opportunities.

  • Personable & patient .

  • Good communicator to work with the school district and families.
