FAIR-RITE PRODUCTS CORP. - LOCATED IN WALLKILL, NEW YORK

This is an opportunity to join a great IT team. The Systems Analyst-RPG Programmer will be responsible for the research, analysis, development, testing, implementation and support of software application systems utilizing industry accepted system methodologies. As new technologies emerge that would benefit Fair-Rite’s systems, the Systems Analyst-RPG Programmer is expected to learn these technologies quickly and integrate the new technologies within existing systems.

Days and Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Hybrid position - home base must be located in one of the following states: NY, IL, SC

Responsibilities

Conduct system analysis necessary to design, create and document software application systems based on a conceptual description of the business requirement logic.

  • Work closely with the IT staff, management, team leaders, production staff, and external programming consultants, to maintain current applications and develop new applications to meet Fair-Rite’s current and future business needs.

  • Develop and maintain application system programs utilizing industry standard development methods as well as established database standards.

  • Assist users in determining specific system requirements and devise means of achieving desired end results.

  • Modify vendor-supplied utilities and systems to fit existing systems and equipment, and the needs of the company.

  • Determine the impact of proposed projects on current workloads and define the interface between proposed projects and existing systems, software, and hardware.

  • Assist users in performing operational evaluation of installed systems and in making system adjustments to increase effectiveness.

  • Establish schedule for analysis, programming, and project completion and implementation.

  • Perform technical reviews of application systems to identify and correct system problems.

  • Provide technical training to Fair-Rite staff and administration, where appropriate.

  • Write, discuss, submit, and monitor trouble ticket reports to software vendors as required.

  • Analyze and recommend appropriate values for application system file, record, and field parameters according to business needs analysis.

  • Analyze user requirements for requested data retrieval/data download and make appropriate recommendations based on business needs analysis.

  • Assist other IT staff members in their assignments as situations require.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and experience:

  • Associates Degree with 5 years on the job training or experience.

  • Preferred Education and experience: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related technology field with a minimum of 3 years technical work experience in a System Analyst (or similar) position.

    Skills/Knowledge:

  • Must possess a working knowledge of basic PC troubleshooting skills and a familiarity with commonly used office PC software, such as Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook). Advanced knowledge of MS Excel preferred.

  • AS/400 (iSeries/System i) and RPG programming knowledge required

  • Basic ERP system familiarity (Epicor-CMS knowledge a plus)

  • Prior experience in implementing new technologies into existing system infrastructure required.

  • IBM DB/2, and Sequel Viewpoint experience a plus

  • MS SQL Server, SQL Mgmt Studio, and Report Builder knowledge a plus

  • Powershell & VBscript knowledge a plus

  • AWS (Amazon Web Services) knowledge a plus

  • General API (Application Programming Interface) knowledge a plus

  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and ethical standards when overseeing data, files and programs contained on individual PC’s and company servers.

  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.

  • Must possess strong communications skills, both written and verbal, especially email.
