Thermo Fisher Scientific Senior Finance Manager/Program Management - Hybrid in Waltham, Massachusetts

As a member of the Life Sciences finance project team, the Senior Finance Manager, Finance PMO role will become a trusted source of expertise for our finance teams in creating and managing successful programs that drive strategic benefits and organizational growth as we continue to transform towards Finance of the future. What you will do:

  • Build and grow a finance project management office (PMO) team, define roles and responsibilities, hire, lead and mentor team members

  • Support the creation and management of successful programs that are designed to transform finance

  • Support Business and Group level business and finance partners to define optimal use cases that meet business strategic and technological needs

  • Participate in the scoping and staffing of broader company wide initiatives

  • Drive standardization and adoption of processes, practices and tools for project management excellence across finance and supporting functions.

  • Advise executive leadership on program status and be a change champion

  • Support the data governance office and global data owners with the execution of their implementation guides


Bachelor's Degree required, Masters Degree or MBA a plus. Ideal subject areas we look for include business, finance, technology and data science.

  • 10+ years of experience in finance, organizational change or IT project management

  • Experience driving strategic programs

  • Track record of successful change initiatives

  • Proven track record in leading multi-site programs or projects cross-functionally and internationally.

  • Preferred industry experiences include Life Science, Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, Healthcare or Medical

  • Outstanding project management experience within a finance or IT team

  • Demonstrated program and project management expertise including prioritization and problem solving

  • We are looking for someone who can motivate, inspire and influence teams and lead change across functions and businesses.

  • Self-motivated, autonomous, results-oriented and with the leadership needed to drive projects to successful completion.

  • PMP or equivalent certification a plus, or interest in attaining formal qualification

  • Knowledge of the Agile framework
