PCSI General Maintenance Worker in Warren, Michigan

PCSI is looking for a General Maintenance Worker at the Detroit Arsenal Site 760!  In this position you will receive job orders and assigned work daily for the maintenance and repair of buildings and structures to include but not limited to minor adjustments and repairs to structural building components, doors, windows, floor systems, light carpentry, drywall repair/ painting and roof repairs.  You will have the ability to work independently or as part of a team to solve problems and execute solutions.  This position will report to the SUPERVISOR and is based at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren MI. Typical work hours will be Monday thru Friday 7:30 to 4:00.  With occasional work on weekends and alternating shifts based on maintenance scheduling needs.  The position is also on a rotating paid on-call rotation.  This position includes snow removal duties during the winter.

Rate of pay:

$36.98 per hour, plus $5.95 for health and welfare, Shift Premium (union position) with full benefits.

What You'll Do as a General Maintenance Worker:

  • Troubleshooting door components for closing, sticking, adjustment issues.
  • Install/adjust manual door closers.
  • Replacing damaged ceramic floor tiles.
  • Insulated glass and seal replacement.
  • Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, sidewalks, and crack repair.
  • Caulking windows and masonry.
  • Drywall repair, removal, and replacement. Taping and finishing to a Level 5 quality.
  • Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Painting walls and ceilings to industry standards.
  • Replacing carpet squares and cove base.
  • Proficient with paint spraying equipment.
  • Proficient with power washing equipment.
  • Roof inspection drains and minor repairs to EPDM, Asphalt, Rubber and TKPO roofing systems.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • High school diploma
  • Must have at least 10 years of experience with the ability to perform the assigned duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb ladders. Frequently required to kneel, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Required to be able to lift 50lbs up to 10 times per day.
  • Ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of all maintenance trades in a maintenance environment (prior government contractor experience preferred).
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools required for installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete all applicable training modules assigned.
  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.

Other Requirements:

Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.

Ability to work outside in inclement weather as needed and be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors.

Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
