We are seeking a LPN to work three, 12s on Day shift from 7a - 7:30p with rotating weekends and holidays. New grad and experience LPNs can apply.

Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital's Observation Unit is a fast-paced area dedicated to putting patients first - delivering safe, quality patient care. With a

high patient turnover rate and a very diverse patient population, our nurses are

presented with many learning opportunities. Primary Services are for the adult

population whose diagnosis requires expedited evaluation to determine the

appropriate inpatient/outpatient intervention. Treatment and procedures require less than 24 hours close observation and less than 18 hours for rapid

observation. We believe in teaching our nurses and mentoring them to be the best they can be at their respective specialties. It is imperative that all of our nursing caregivers possess excellent assessment skills to monitor patients while admitted to our nursing unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Collects and documents objective and subjective data and observations about the patient.

  • Contributes observations and health information to the nursing assessment and reports all data to the RN or authorized directing health care provider.

  • Implements the current plan of nursing care at the direction of the RN, or the medication or treatment authorized by the authorized directing health care provider.

  • Documents and verbally communicates the patient's response to the nursing plan of care or the medication or treatment including observing patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments and performing routine laboratory tests.

  • Contributes to the revision of the nursing plan of care.

  • Provides education and information to patients and family members.

  • Participates in the departmental orientation of new employees in a positive manner, shares knowledge, experiences, and provides guidance when assigned.

  • Maintains professional growth and development within nursing field.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.

Certifications:

  • Current Ohio License as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

  • Basic Life Support(BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA).

  • If in an ED, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department.

Work Experience:

  • One year of patient care experience preferred.

  • (Note: PRNs should be in job code G18004, LPN Hospital PRN, are subject to the work experience requirements in that job code)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.

  • Involves extensive standing and walking.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
