Job Overview

The Associate Director, Alumni Career Services & Hoya Gateway is a critical member of the Alumni Relations team, primarily supporting Hoya Gateway, Georgetown’s premier alumni networking program. They lead and support the planning, development, and implementation of career development programs, services, and volunteer opportunities for Georgetown’s 200,000+ alumni while benefitting and positively impacting current students.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the daily management and strategic growth of Hoya Gateway, Georgetown’s premier networking and mentorship platform connecting alumni and students for meaningful career conversations and interactions. Having experienced tremendous growth over the years, Hoya Gateway currently has more than 16,000 alumni and 5,000 student users

  • Manages the Hoya Gateway Executive Committee, the program’s alumni volunteer advisory body, as well as a team of Student Ambassadors

  • Oversees the branding and further strategic development of Hoya Gateway through events, social media, marketing, and monthly user newsletters

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting to the Director of Career & Lifelong Learning, the Associate Director, Alumni Career Services & Hoya Gateway serves as a member of the Alumni Relations team within the Office of Advancement.

They work closely with alumni leaders, including members of the Hoya Gateway Executive Committee and the Board of Governors of the Georgetown University Alumni Association (GUAA).

As well, they partner regularly with alumni who are high-level industry experts and/or major gift donors, and consequently work closely with colleagues on the Development, Stewardship, Alliances and Affinity, Annual Giving, and Alumni Relations teams; and interact substantially with colleagues in Student Affairs and career centers across Georgetown’s campuses, and with students via student marketing and engagement.

This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a higher education, career services, customer service, marketing, communications, or non-profit environment.

  • Marketing experience, volunteer management skills, and project management skills

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to multitask

  • Ability to think strategically about constituent needs

  • Excellent judgment and analytical skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to be creative and attention to detail .

  • Ability to work with multiple technology platforms – for example, Google Workplace, WordPress, Canva, and Salesforce

  • Skills in research skills and organization

  • Ability to work independently and strategically to support the aims of Alumni Career Services and Georgetown University Alumni Association programming and the mission of Georgetown University as a whole

Preferred qualifications

  • Event planning experience

  • Experience managing student interns
