Canvas Inc. Congressional Inquiries Analyst in Washington, District Of Columbia

Job Title: Congressional Inquiries Analyst

Location : Washington, D.C.

The Congressional Inquiries Analyst serves as an action officer in the National Guard Bureau (NGB) Congressional Inquiries Branch by providing factual, coordinated, and timely replies to written and telephonic inquiries from Members of Congress, committees, and their staff.

Duties:

  • Receives a wide variety of written and telephonic inquiries from members of Congress and other government offices and record each inquiry received to the NGB LL internal database.

  • Provides interim responses every 21 calendar days to the inquiring official until the final response is drafted.

  • Ensures that all inquiries are properly staffed and vetted to ensure the most accurate and up to date information is transmitted on behalf of the senior leadership at NGB.

  • Establishes and maintains contacts with staff of Congressional offices and within DoD, Army, the Air Force and the States and Territories.

  • Maintains current a contact roster of the staffs of Congressional offices and appropriate points of contact within DOD, the Army, the Air Force, and the States and Territories

  • Ensures all Privacy Act and Freedom of Information Act inquiries received by the CIBC are in compliance with policy and provide response to the CIBC within 24 hours of any such inquiry.

  • Initiates appropriate coordination of sensitive inquiries (inquiries that pertain to personnel information requests) between the National Guard, Departments of the Army and Air Force, States and Territories, and other executive agencies.

    Qualifications:

  • 0-3 years of experience with analyzing and responding to congressional inquiries

  • 0-3 years of experience working with the NGB or equivalent other Service Headquarters of DoD Level

  • Experience which demonstrates a high level of understanding of the congressional budget and appropriations process, and familiarity with the President's budget, to include analyzing appropriations tables and justification books

  • Experience analyzing and tracking the annual National Defense Authorization Act, Appropriations Act and Military Construction appropriations

  • Experience that demonstrates understanding of congressional committee process and procedures to include mark-ups, hearings, and nominations

  • Experience with DoD policy development, program process and program execution

  • Understanding of DoD legislative and ULB process

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams)

  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft SharePoint/work collaboration tools

  • Demonstrated experience using software database and tracking systems

  • Experience performing case management duties

  • Active Secret Clearance

    Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree with relevant work experience

    Clearance Level : Must have an Interim Clearance or Secret Clearance
