Metcor Ltd Lead Instructional Designer in Washington, District Of Columbia

METCOR/LSI has a need for a Lead Instructional Designer to provide support and direction to a team of training professionals in the design, development, and delivery of training materials for federal employees. This is a full-time, remote role offering a long-term opportunity for growth within an established organization.

METCOR/LSI maintains a drug-free work environment. All positions require the ability to pass a background investigation conducted by a federal government agency and a drug test. U.S. citizenship is required.

Duties and Responsibilities in the Lead Instructional Designer role:

  • Leading and contributing to training analysis, design, development, coordination, delivery, and evaluation activities
  • Designing and developing training materials (presentations, quick reference tools, instructor/participant guides, web-based training, etc.) on a variety of topics in a collaborative environment
  • Contributing to the creation of project management plans and schedules
  • Delegating to and leading small teams of Instructional Designers, Developers, Technical Writers, and Instructors
  • Providing direction and feedback to teams and individuals to improve performance
  • Providing quality control reviews of a variety of materials for peers or other team members
  • Serving as a customer and subject matter (SME) liaison
  • Researching and studying to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on a variety of topics

Required Skills and Abilities for the Lead Instructional Designer role:

  • 5+ years of experience in Instructional Systems Design (ISD) to include instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (VILT), and web-based training design and development
  • 3+ years of experience leading small teams and interfacing with clients
  • Experience with the ADDIE model of Instructional Systems Design
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office with emphasis on Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness and desire to learn and teach others
  • High degree of adaptability and flexibility
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment

Education and Experience for the Lead Instructional Designer role:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required: Instructional Design, Education, or a related field
  • Master's degree in a related field or ISD certificate preferred

Physical Requirements of the Instructional Designer role:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Compensation

  • $75,000 - $95,000 annually
